What is the slimmest double stack nine.

There's also a difference between a gun that is very thin for 95% of its area, but has a control that sticks out far, and a gun that is the same thickness. This is really the Glock-vs-everything-else issue. If your problem with thick guns is the controls, Glock will solve the issue. If its the thickness of the thing overall...

I think at the slide the steyr m9 might be just as wide. The grip feels a lot slimer to me. I don't know what the measurements are. It is also 17+1 with the newer mags (15+1) with the originals. If you are going for something that feels thinner in hand it might be a good choice. If it is something that is thinner to coneal better, I'm not sure there is any advantage.

Just to be clear I'm looking for thin on the hip and not so much the hand. Honestly aside from the BDM it doesn't look as though anything is appreciably thinner than my g34 I carry now.

I've handled and short the steyr m40 noting its impressive ergonomics. But for whatever reason the example we had on hand had SERIOUS accuracy issues that have since scared me off from the brand.

Go handle the sr9c. The numbers arent as good as it feels.

I've handled an sr9 and I agree they're not carrying any unnecessary pork. In fact I've shot or handled just about all the pistols mentioned thus far with the exclusion of the walther and BDM

Since the Kel-tec isn't a full size pistol holding 15 rounds, I think it's disqualified. Walther PPS is a single stack holding a whopping 7 rounds, last I checked.
So Browning BDM, it is, so far. But it's not in production anymore, is it?
So talking currently manufactured guns, could it actually be the Glock????

If we're talking something subjective as how thin a gun feels, then this thread is going to be really, really long. Get the popcorn.
Well to be accurate the Kel Tec P11 can take S&W 5906 15 rounds mags.

I'm curious how you carry. A G34 is a lot of hardware to stuff in your pants. :)

Its actually not that bad at all in a IWB "crossbreed style" holster and pants a couple inches too big around the waist. After all a g34 is just a 17 with slightly more slide and bbl.

I started ccw with a pf9 until a local active shooter incident made me rethink 8rds in an across the table accurate 9mm. Bear in mind I had the 34 all along, so I purchased a g32 and carried that for awhile, started carrying it with a g31 mag with a grip sleeve (full length grip). Of course this led me to start carrying the 34 which when you get the cant right feels just like a glock 19 sized gun on the hip and conceals amazingly well.

When I first started carrying I couldn't imagine hiding anything bigger than a pocket rocket. But as my comfort level increased and I became less paranoid about being made I discovered its actually easy to hide all but the biggest hand cannons.

My holster is a Parker http://www.parkerholsters.com/ which despite its moderate price has provided excellent service in a most comfortable way.

Walther PPQ 1.30 in (34.0 mm)
Ruger SR9 1.27 in (32.3 mm)
Walther PPS 1.10 in (27.0 mm)
Browning BDM 1.06 in (26.0 mm)
Kel-Tec P11 1.00 in (25.0 mm)

Problem with a lot of these measurements, is that they are measured at the controls because that's the widest part of the gun. If you measure across the grip and slide, i think you'd see that several of these guns are a lot thinner than the "on paper" numbers would lead one to believe.

I'll add a +1 for the FNH FNS-9. Quite thin, for a double stack. Holds 17 rounds.

Update: Never mind. FNH website says that its width is 1.55".

A lot of carryability is how the weapon is shaped. I have a glock 19 ann m&p 40c. The m&p feels slimmer. A lot of it has to do with the roundness of the top of the slide.

not the ruger but the diamond back, has bad reviews, very poor workmanship

Putting my extended magazine in my SR9C and holding it than holding my BDM its hard to tell which is thinner although I think the Ruger is slightly better balanced and feels more comfortable. I know I can shoot my SR9C more accurately than my BDM.

LOL just to update this last night I went to my LGS and handled another sr9 and the fnx.....I ended up leaving with a glock 26.

Thanks for the input guys. I guess in the end though the glock just speaks to my hand.

Oh and it measures 1.16" wide not measuring the slide stop

Slimmest I have personally seen is the Ruger SR9. Their SR40 is also super trim.

My big gripe with those guns is that the triggers vary from good to awful...but the ergonomics are otherwise flawless.
