Hi,
I've been a gun collector/shooter for a while. I have mostly military bolt actions but recently purchased a Kray and am actively bidding on some Springfield Trapdoors. I live in CA and shoot on BLM land in the Sierras.

I've been lurking around here for probably a year now. I don't know why I waited so long to join. Anyhow, I love all types of firearms, and really enjoy hunting. I'm not sure if I reload so I can shoot more, or if I shoot more so I can reload.

New guy here. I've lived in Canada for the last 4 years and now I'm glad to be back in the US. I grew up around guns, but i just bought my first handgun. I'm going for my ccw permit next week. It took me moving to Canada to appreciate the right to own. I've been reading the forum for a while, so thanks everyone for contributing.

I'm new to the forum. I'm a family man and a contractor. Thirty six years old in Arkansas. I hunt from time to time and shoot whenever I have time.

Salutations, folks! Been checking here every now and then and decided I'd finally sign up.

Just turned 22 last month and finally got myself a gun, along with a CC class. Looking forward to my appointment in a little less than two weeks to fill out the paperwork and pay the fees to get my CWFL.

New to Colt Black Powder and Conversions

Gained an interest / fascination with conversions and will be purchasing an Uberti MWNN Conversion in short order. Looking for an 1849 Pocket with a 5" barrel to go with it. I know, good luck huh ...

Howdy,

I'm Max. I am an active NRA member and (according to the media) an "Open Carry Activist". I have a beautiful wife, two kids and one more on the way. We live in northern Minnesota and its cold. I am mostly a handgun guy, but I dabble in hunting rifles.

Hi, my name is Rob. I have been firing handguns, mostly 9mm for a few years. I belong to a local sportsman's club which I mostly use for the handgun and rifle ranges. Looking forward to using the forum.

New member

Hi. Im a new member but I've been lurking for a while. Im an amateur gunsmith. Im actually pretty good, I just havent had formal training so I say Im an "amateur". I recently started a blog to show my projects and gear reviews. Feel free to stop by, its gunsngearguy.tumblr.com There is a chat window at the bottom so if you check it out, leave a message and mention THR so I know how you found me. Thanks, gunsNgear.

hi i am dave 38 minnesota mn i was born with a disablity called spina bifida which makes it so i need to use a wheelchair to get around

Hello all. I'm Hank from South Texas. I've been reading THR for two or three years, and have found a wealth of firearms knowledge, from the generally practical to the impractically specific.

I'm a hunting enthusiast, though I rarely find the time. I don't really trophy hunt, and I only hunt what I eat. I've been hunting for close to twenty years. I mostly hunt whitetail, dove, and quail, though recently I've taken up pig and rabbit. I recently started processing my own game. I hope to figure out how to successfully tan a hide sooner or later.

Aside from hunting, and as a natural consequence to growing up hunting, I enjoy various shooting sports. While I enjoy precision rifle shoots, I really get my kicks breaking clays. I'll occasionally shoot a regulation match, but mostly I just shoot whatever is fun. I do a lot of hand throwing with friends and family and automatic throwers with electric wobblers to vary shots.

That being said, I've taken to short distance (20–100 yd) shoots with semi-auto rifles - AR and AK. I enjoy shooting handguns, though I'm hardly proficient. I'm working on it though. My most recent purchase was a Savage .17 HMR, both for an affordable way to spend some time working with magnified optics and to rabbit hunt.

A friend of mine recently started reloading, and it rubbed off on me. I recently bought everything needed to start reloading .223/5.56 in small runs, though I haven't made it over to his bench yet. I'll get there.

A belated thanks for all the past information, and a thanks in advance to future sharing. Glad to be here.

Howdy fellow gun nuts!

:D Hey guys & gals, I'm a 60 year old old redneck that beleives in the way it used to be way back when a man's handshake & word was his bond!!That is the way I was raised by my dad & grandpa!I am a firm beleiver in a thing called "western Justice"! If a man comes on your land without permission & steals from you, ya track him down & hang him or shoot him if caught red handed! My wife says I was born 150 years too late, that I should have lived in the days of the old west, that would've been fine with me!!:;)I am seldom seen without a weapon closeby,my philosophy is to never carry a dull knife or an unloaded gun, neither are nothing more than a paper weight!I love to shoot all my guns, I have a H&R .22magnum single shot rifle with a badass scope that I LOVE to shoot, it is a tack driver at a 100 yards!! Please don't judge me too harsh, I'm preparing for the STHTF some day in the not too distant future, they'll get me in a storm, but I'll take out a few before then though!!;)

New to guns

I have just recently begun shooting handguns. My husband bought me a pink Taurus PT .22 for Valentine's Day and I just purchased a Walther P .22 as well. I practice often and i have become a very acurate shot. I am scheduled to get my conceal and carry permit later this month. Anyone have any advice or experiences they wish to share that might be helpful?

I'm New

Hey everyone. This is officially the first forum that I have ever joined. Although I have browsed many before never joined. I am fairly new the the gun game 3 years ago I attended a bachelor party that all we did was shoot clay pigeons for a couple of hours, two weeks later I purchased my first firearm. (used Mossberg model 88) :) Since then I have acquired a few more. (4 handcannons and 3 rifles). I also have had my cc permit and I am currently working on my ffl:D. don't really hunt or anything just enjoy shooting and searching for my next purchase. (dragonov)

I've been a member here for years but took a couple year break so I'm reintroducing myself.

I'm mainly in to guns for technological interest and build guns as a hobby, both as typical gun builds as well as scratch builds. I've also done some pretty intense customizations of existing guns and am best known for a "next gen" style CZ-52 mod and a 10mm Beretta 96 Brigadier.

My main reason for reemergence is that I am seeking information resources from individuals educated and experienced with firearms from an engineering standpoint and am not finding them in specialized forums, so I am trying the general community again.

I am obviously likely to be most helpful here when it comes to dealing with firearm mechanics.

Well, that's about it.

Hi mbeellk2,
Just one word of advice..enjoy shooting with the 22s, but take a larger caliber for your ccw class. You will need a larger gun for real self defense use and will not be sorry to have expanded your skills to a larger caliber weapon.

Hey all!

I jumped right into the pistol area, but figured I should stop by here and say hello! I am an avid bow and gun hunter, and have just recently acquired my first Handgun, a Ruger p95.

Other than that, I have a savage .22, an M1 Carbine built in my home state, and the old trusty Marlin 30-30.

Thanks for all the help so far :)

A Taurus PT.22 was my first gun to learn on, although mine is an older model I got at a pawn shop. I really enjoyed learning on it although I have learned it likes to be extra clean to avoid misfires (they may have improved that with newer models.) I did upgrade to a 9mm but only once I was ready and comfortable, no one can make that decision but you. I used my little Taurus for my CCW class as I took it before buying a 2nd weapon. I do believe that a .22 is better than than carrying nothing, although the 9mm I got isn't much bigger that my Taurus so that's what I use now although I still enjoy my Taurus.

Welcome! I have been wondering about gun safes myself. I keep mine in a wooden closet locked by key. I see gun safes start at very affordable prices. What do you recommend for an entry model
