Today I got my first glock :D its a G19. From one range session I can already tell that I'm in love with it.. I'm no long time fanboy, my first pistol was a XD9 and it was great. Just something about the feel of this glock and the sights that I'm really diggin!

Also, found this really good instructional video on how to disassemble it as I like to see things done in person. A little trickier at first compared to the XD, but do it a couple of times and it feels natural

The mid-size Glocks get "best overall" from me in a lot of categories - the blance of having a reliable pistol that's light, concealable, and affordable. Not to mention the end user can do 90% of the maintenance on with cheap and readily available parts makes it an easy pistol to own.

That said they ain't perfect for everyone, and on the mid-size Glocks I've owned, I had to swap out the sights to be more to my liking. But if I could only own 1 pistol it would probably be a Glock 19 or 23.

Welcome to the dark side. The Glock 19 is my favorite carry gun. I don't think you can find a better all around gun. I would recommend a smooth face trigger and an extended slide stop. And of course change the sites and you will be good to go.

Lots of good polymer guns on the market now, but you can't go wrong with a glock either  The video does show a good technique on how to take it apart.

The initial cost of a Glock is just the entry fee into the world of cheap mags, accessories, and parts. The Glock 19 is one of the most cost-efficient systems for turning large volumes of cash into spent cases. There's no going back, now. :)

I was a Glock "plastic pistol" hater when they first came out.

I couldn't believe how "stupid" people were to trust their lives to a plastic pistol.

After many years of cursing them, I finally tried one and, like you, I fell in love.

Now many years later, I still carry a Glock 23 every day of the week.

I have owned one since 1998. I "took" to it right away, promptly blowing holes in the center of my targets after struggling with DA/SA pistols (that didn't really fit my hands) and revolvers. Other worthy challengers have come along - the S&W M&P being notable - but this is the one I kept, along with the CZ PCR. Other than some early issues feeding hollowpoints (FMJs were fine), I've put a bushel of ammo through it with virtually no stoppages and only one repair.

After shooting Colt 1911 and Ruger P series for years, I finally got a G21 the other day. I ran a couple of clips of hardball .45 through it and chased a pop bottle around pretty well. I think it is easier to hit with this than with my Officers-length 1911. It looks like I am going to have to get a Lone Wolf replacement barrel for it since I refuse to pay $26 a box for FMJ and will be shooting hard cast lead. Evidently shooting lead bullets in the G21 is not recommended. I should get payback for the $105 barrel in less than 500 rounds.

g19

it is the best of all glocks, MVP. your last glock is not your last glock.

I thought I was doing okay with m Astra A-90 and my Dad's 92FS until I got my Glock. First round hits all the time and sequential throughout. I feel like I can't miss when I'm focusing on the essentials.

I had to swap out the sights to be more to my liking.

+1 on this. The sights may be the Glock 19's greatest shortcoming. Fortunately, there are lots of alternatives (especially tritium sights) that don't cost very much and can be easily installed.

But if I could only own 1 pistol it would probably be a Glock 19 or 23.

A big +1 here. Though I have several pistols, my G19 is usually the one that goes with me everywhere. Though I don't intend to try it, I suspect I'd get along just fine (pistol-wise anyway) with only my G19 and a rimfire semiauto pistol.

The Glock 19 is a good choice. Lots of good brands available. There will be more days like this.

I own a G19 and a G26.

I love my Glocks so much that I'm going to start competitive shooting once I buy a G17 later this year, or early next year.

I thought for sure that my first foray into striker-fired pistols would be a S&W. Nope! Didn't like the way the M&P fit in my hand. As an after-thought, I asked to see a G19. Oh, my. It felt perfect.

Unlike others, I like the stock Glock sights.

Don't bump that front sight on anything, it'll probably pop right off.

"Gun fit" is a nebulous quality that varies from person to person. When you find "the" gun for you, that is no small thing.

G20 6" and G29 here. Been considering a 9mm Glock (for the wife, of course) and had been thinking G26. Been seeing this and other posts where the consensus for a favorite leans toward G19. Thinking I better go heft the G19 and G26 to refine my decision-making process.

glock 19 :)

I have a block 19 and I love it. I actually have three glocks, a 19, 27, and a 21. All three sizes and different calibers.

A friend was a Glock hater 'til he tried my 19 - guess what he ran out and bought and now loves?
