Good Morning,

I used to reload back in the day (1990's), but several assignments/moves, kids in HS, and now a new carer leave me with little time to shoot, let alone reload. Add to that I sold my rock chucker and gear a while back, so for the forseeable future, I'm buying ammo. Other than .22 rimfire (which I shoot A LOT), my wife and I primarily shoot 9MM @ .40 S&W Glocks (19, 23, 26) and a Ruger SR556 AR. We shoot about 600 handgun rounds per month.

I was buying bulk BVAC (reloaded brass) from CheaperthanDirt.com (been through 3K 9MM and 1.5K .40) but have had probably a dozen rounds jam and fail to feed due to case sizing. Last week, I had a .40 brass blow out the side of the case by the primer (that one hurt like heck when it happened...pistol fell out of my hand and mag came out). :cuss: Took me a second to check my digits and ensure I still had 5 on each hand. Thus, I'm thinking I'm done with CTD's BVAC for now.

I made a purchase from Luckygunner.com and quickly recieved my order of "Blazer Brass" 9MM and "MBI" .40. So far so good. As a TX resident, CTD charged me sales tax, whereas Lucky did not, so prices are almost a wash. I also shop Cabelas when they have the really great deals on 9MM (under $0.20 per round), but they are few and far between.

I was wondering where anyone else had found great prices and quick shipping for bulk pistol ammo.

Thanks,

God Bless you all, Texas, and our Great Nation.

Doug's a great guy to deal with, gives you credit for returned brass and sells match-quality ammo at great prices.

Why practice with bulk crap when you can shoot great ammo for not much more money?

Ok, if I SHOULD ever shoot bulk crap ammo, I'd shoot the new Federal 100 round packs from WalMart. ;)

.40 S&W is only $26/100 before tax.

Who ever is cheapest after everything is considered such as nifty added fees such as received adult signature signing charges(CDNN),handling fees,UPS shipping fees, and last if in Texas, state taxes.
On the other hand I have won some real knock out prices bidding on ammo at GunBroker a few times.
Once with free shipping.

I have used ammunitiontogo.com, ammoman.com, and ammosupply.com and all have provided reasonably priced ammo in a very timely fashion. It pays to check between several different suppliers to get their best price and for availability.

Doc,

Thanks much. I'll definately check out Doug on my next buy, as his prices are very competative.

To be honest, I get very decent accuracy from most brass bulk ammo. I'm not looking to put three holes under a silver dollar from a bench, but the ammo I'm shooting from stock Glocks is capable of 5 shot-2 inch groups from a rest at 10 yards (i do check every bulk shipment when I first open it from a bench).

My practice is based on getting practical accuracy. If it can consistently hit 5 inch plates at 10- 20 yards (as long as I'm doing my part), I'm good.

Thanks again.

Another vote for Georgia Arms. May not be the cheapest out there, but factor in the free shipping and no tax, and it equals out. But yeah...they are running behind right now. I went ahead and ordered my summers worth of ammo. Already got part of my order, just waiting for the rest. Nice people too. I just wished my outdoor range would open up for the season.

georgia arms from the local gun show. I can get 500 and 1000 round box's for practice and a quality new ammo with speer hp's for carry at a far batter price than the big ammo companies.

I end up buying a lot from bulkammo.com. They typically have competitive pricing and run specials pretty regularly. One of the items I really like is you can sort the products based on $/round which lets you easily see the best deal.

If the bulk ammo is loaded to the same approximate specs, it's useful. But the low powered stuff (aka practice ammo) has little interest to me unless that is all I shoot in a particular gun. I have never figured out why people continue to shoot ammo that hits at a substantially different POI than their "regular ammo" and how that is useful.

I placed an order with these folks yesterday...

I admit I know nothing about them, other than the price was excellent and the shipping was reasonable.

9mm 115gr 17.5 cents / round shipping for 500 rounds plus a few boxes of .45acp was $13.00

Shopping for price is great but what I notice is the sky high shipping cost from some dealers. Not to mention some of them want you to jump through hoops to see a shipping estimate.

Though I loathe to say it, Walfart does have some deals on crapola ammo.

Does anyone buy from FFL licensed to sell

reloads...there are two reloaders with FFLs in my area and I am buying 1000 rds of 45 Colt from one of them...I have my 1000 rds of used brass so with that to trade it is $350 for Lead RNF. Of course, by one estimate..1000 empties of this caliber is worth around $220. However, you look at it, since I do not reload I am happy with that deal. That is like $17.50 a box OTD which is what this ammo was 6 years ago...now doubled at retail. (At an Iowa Gun Show this weekend the best deal I saw on new stuff was a case of MagTech .45 Colt (1000 rds) for $540.
