LCR .38 is one I've owned. It's was a bit of a handful but manageable. .357 mag I have not shot and have no desire to. For what it is, the LCR is best of breed.

I like the .38Spl+P but only if it has the XS big dot site on the front. If you don't plan to shoot .357 the .38 models are also about 3oz lighter. Know, however, that while a handful, the .357 is manageable.

The Ruger LCR is my pocket BUG ( Back Up Gun ). I bought the LCR in .38 over a year ago and it is a perfect pocket CC weapon.

I have not shot the newer LCR in .357, but quiet sure it would be a real handful.

If you are new to concealed carry, I highly recommend that your primary carry weapon be at least a 10-15 round pistol. The LCR is a 2nd back up gun IMHO.

I went for the KLCR (ruger's designation for the .357 LCR), and have not looked back. The extra 3.5 ounces help my wife handle the .38+p recoil, and while not pleasant .357's are manageable and give me peace of mind.

I own a LCR 38. Its a nice little gun, drops nicely in a pocket. Little bulkier than an airweight, IMO, but its still easy to conceal in a pocket. No weight really. The grips are nice. I handload a 158gr JHP over 6.2gr of Power Pistol and its a real handfull, but the grips make it real manageable and follow up shots are plenty quick.

I now own my second LCR and have owned the LCR 357. Along the way, the last couple of years, I have owned a Taurus 85 Ultra Lite, a S&W 442 and an S&W 642. I bought the S&W's because I liked the way they were finished and the way they looked. I didn't particularly like the way they shot. I really liked the feel of the first LCR and loved the trigger, the grips, and the way it shot. I got a wild hair and decided I need a 357. I was surprised, but I didn't mind shooting full bore 357's out of it in limited numbers. I have an arthritic wrist that flairs up every once in a while when I have too much fun with heavy recoiling revolvers, but I didn't have a lot of trouble shooting the 357's out of the LCR. For the amount of firepower, it is easily tolerable, but I wouldn't want to go out and shoot a box at a time. I sold the gun a few months ago to a friend that thought he had to have it. Recently, I picked up a used LCR 38 at my local gun shop. I will keep this one for a long time.
