Hi I tried the search and found nothing on this carbine. Any of you have any input, looking for a plinker to go with my .40 cal pistols. Any info appreciated. Thanks Mac

Seen a bunch at the local shooting range and they look like lots of fun. They're also ridiculously compact when ready to fire, even smaller folded. I haven't heard anything bad about them. The only problem I see is that the bolt doesn't lock open when empty- the hold-open can only be engaged manually.

By the way, if you're lucky you'll find one that can share magazines with one of your pistols. They make several, all for different brands of mags.

I have one that takes glock mags, it's a handy little rifle. It matches up with my glock 35 magazine wise and I picked up a few scherer 28 rounders for it. Fits in the trunk nicely too

I have one. It's a fun range gun. It's accurate out to 100 yards and it shares the same ammo as my CZ-40B. I picked mine up a few years ago for $250 so I cant really complain.

I don't have a matching pistol, so I went with the 9x19 version that takes G19 or longer magazines. I put the KT compact fore-end on it, as I don't like optics and didn't feel a need for the light mount on the larger stock fore-end.

It is a very strange little gun, I like it. Reliable with pretty much anything brass cased I've fed it, as accurate at the weird front sight will allow (there is an aftermarket front out there I'm considering).
Recoil is odd, not strong but sharp, maybe? The bolt essentially bonks your shoulder through the tube/butt-stock, and the butt-stock is designed for folding first and comfort second. I just find it odd, the Mrs finds it uncomfortable to her shoulder. Another downside is that some users have reported that the front sight assembly is somewhat delicate.

It folds into a laptop bag or pretty much anything larger than a single pistol case, it is light, and it is easy to operate once you get used to the odd location of the charging handle. The lack of last-round lock-open is sort of not a problem when you're using 33 round magazines, I don't miss it.

I looked at these hard when I was shopping for a SA pistol caliber carbine. If I had the need for it's folding ability and light weight I would have bought it. But all my guns are range toys and the stock looked to be uncomfortable. I chose a Camp 9 and Hi Point 4595 instead.

folding means it fits in a saddlebag

the hi-point is oddly comfortable, though ... I was annoyed that it only took HP mags, but otherwise impressed at the one I shot.

and I want a camp9, just haven't come across one yet.

They are a unique concept unlike any carbine style gun I have seen. I like them and bought 4 of them over the years.
The prices I have seen lately are out of sight. (over $400)

You've found nothing this gun? Really? Nothing? Found plenty here.

The only real issues I've heard from owners is the lack of a good cheek weld and it feels like (duh) plastic.

Panzercat, Let me clarify. I found nothing on THR, I trust this group more than others. Google is our "friend"!! Thanks for all the input guys!!

my buddy just picked one up while i was home on leave for christmas. thing is awesome. only complaint is the the front sight is super wide.

he loads really low powered cast bullets for his 3 gun shoots and it functioned great with them. we had tons of fun with it

he took it to an appleseed recently (hes an orange hat) and did complain that the front sight was way too wide for the small AQT target hes talking about mounting an AK front sight block on it for a better sight

I have two, in each caliber (9mm & .40S&W) LOVE them...:D

To me they feel the same and are great carry guns.
Fits in places that normal rifles can't!

I HIGHLY recommend getting one if you can!

Lateck,

I have one. The sights suck when using muffs. Makes a nice gun to carry in my motorcycle trunk along with my Glock 22. With the 30 round mags it is an ammo eater.....chris3

I've got two of them, they are ugly little guns, but as far as practicality and even build quality goes they are very hard to beat. The only thing that I will recommend if you decide to get one is to keep the stock and the other metal slightly oiled as it will rust a little easier than other guns. (go for it)

Kel Tec Sub 2000 40 S&W Glock Magazine Reloads

Three weeks ago I picked up a Kel-Tec Sub 2000 40 S&W carbine at the Tulsa gun show. This particular model takes standard Glock model magazines.

I have been experimenting with different factory loads and hand loads (together with my 40 S&W Taurus 740 Slim companion semi-automatic). This weekend I retested some of my best loads to narrow down the most successful that I am presenting here.

The most powerful load, that yielded an average velocity of 1570 fps and a 25 yard group of 2.2” five-shot center to center is: Nosler 135 grain jacketed hollow point bullets, CCI small handgun non-magnum primers, 8.3 grains of Unique (Lee Dipper 1.0 ml) that almost filled the case. I set the overall length slightly longer than the factory Winchester ammunition and I used a mild taper crimp. This load is roughly equivalent to a 44 Special or 44-40 Winchester in power. It fell between the 30 carbine and the 5.56 NATO.

The most accurate load yielded an average velocity of 1208 fps and a 25 yard group of 1.7” five-shot center to center. It consists of: Hornady 155 grain jacketed hollow point bullets, CCI small handgun non-magnum primers, 5.6 grains of HP-38 (RCBS Little Dandy rotor number 9). I set the overall length the same as above. This is a good, easy-going round suitable for plinking or varmint hunting.

Meanwhile, I found a mild handload for my Taurus 740 Slim that is roughly equal to a 9mm+P but not as powerful (or as snappy) as a standard 40 S&W factory loading. I was able to shoot a 3.4” 25 yard, center to center group with it that equaled or beat anything else I tried including the very consistent Winchester factory 165 grain FMJ low-priced stuff. The load consists of: a Nosler 135 grain jacketed hollow point bullets, a CCI small handgun non-magnum primer, and 5.6 grains of HP-38 (RCBS Little Dandy rotor number 9). It yielded an average velocity of 971 fps out of my short-barreled Taurus 740 Slim. This same load also worked well in the carbine, with a velocity of 1265 fps.

I have a .40 Sub 2k and a member of KTOG forum. If it wasn't for the folding feature and a lifetime warranty, I would not recommend this gun. Most of this gun is plastic. My experience: Out of a brand new gun, the 2nd shot I had a case head separation that drew some blood from my forehead. Keltec fixed it and admitted the tight chambering was the cause. Then about 7 months later, the plastic feed ramp broke/melted. Keltec sent me a new ramp and I fixed it myself. It's a great gun, but I don't know why cut corners on a plastic 2 cent feed ramp.
