Hello Fellow Enthusiasts! I just wanted to post some pictures of my latest minor project. It's much more accurate than my Kahr MK, yet it conceals just as well with my wears of choice. Feel free to tell me what you think.

Looks like you did a really nice job ... a long slide 27. How does it function?

I have been considering doing a G17 like that. They aren't beautiful, but from a function stand point I think they make sense.

It functions very well; just like my old G27, but with a heavier barrel. I think that it's more reliable than the G27 though because I broke my Recoil Spring/Guide Rod Assembly 20 rounds into shooting the G27 out of the box. My G22 & G35's have all been flawless!

Yeah, I don't know why Glock didn't just create one like this. Lone Wolf has had conversions for the compacts, but for whatever reason didn't offer ones for subcompacts. Just make your own and then smile a lot!
 
Girodin, did you just say "they're not beautiful" talking about a GLOCK? BaaaHaHaHaHaaaa! Yeah, uh,... you're right.

Looks good! I agree the chop makes sense. It's easy to conceal barrel-length yet butts (don't tell Mrs. Ghost Tracker) are another matter entirely.

I wouldn't say that is any reflection on the reliability of the 27 at all. That's a freak incident for a known-quantity manufacturer to put out a recoil assembly that's completely incapable of performing. That's more of a manufacturing screwup, and they can happen to any model of any weapon.
 
I'd prefer to see the pistol absent the grip sleeve before offering an opinion on your workmanship. As to the concept, I'm open to it!
 
Love it! I see the "grip hump" has been done away with! I bet a lot of people would love this considering a fair amount of people complain about the hump on the grip. NICE!
 
Here are some close-up's to the work I did. Please keep in mind that this is my first one - I think that the sandpaper (600 grit) cleaned things up quite a bit.

After taking a look at the recoil spring/guide rod assembly, it was pretty apparent to me that the grommet was too weak. I upgraded to a Wolff set and found it to be far superior with no more problems. Glock could take a lesson from Wolff, at least for their baby Glocks. The compact and full-size Glocks don't share this problem. I've put several thousand rounds through my full-size pistols without any problems at all.
 
How many rounds now? How did the chop job affect the felt recoil? I have a Keltec P40 and I know "good" that feels.

With this build, I have only put 40 (flawless) rounds of Winchester Q4369 180gr through it using the smaller G27 magazines. The recoil is as manageable as it is with a full frame, but with those heavier rounds, the recoil is gonna be less than with the faster 135, 155 or 165 grains anyway. I haven't tried anything faster as of yet. To say the least though, this thing is easier to shoot than my old G27 and my Kahr MK40 using the same ammo.
 
Did you get another factory spring assembly, or go straight to Wolff?

I like Wolff a lot, but the factory ones don't cost much and for your confidence in the gun alone I think it would be worth it to give the stock-corrected 27 a little range time.

Does the Wolff kit for the 26/27 come as a captured dual-spring assembly, or do they rock a guiderod and separate single spring?
 
NG VI,

the Wolff 26/27/33 guide rods and springs are not captured. It is two rods and two springs and you have to put one into the other.
 
Do you have any means to "grow" it back to full size grip ? (e.g. spacers).

I am toying with the idea of doing that to my G17. Although it doesn't print bad and even if it was, who cares. Most people won't know it from a Blackberry anyway.
 
Now that you have had it over a year. Are you still pleased with it? Would you do it again. I have a 17 I thinking of cutting to 26.
