Surprised it even made the news. A gun can be for good! Who'd of thought that could happen. It is good to see though.

I'm Guna sound goofy but...YAAAY for good publicity!! Theres no telling
How many lives he saved

And oh my gosh look, he didn't shoot the guy just because he had a gun....

He *gulp* actually did what all the anti's said would never happen with us trigger-happy, gun-toting types....better get the Brady group to tell the media that their sensible side is showing

I wonder if and how CNN/Eastern MSM might have reported/slanted/lied about this.

"Pistol-packing redneck self-appointed vigilante accosts and detains man outside rural grocery store, is grilled by police. Kidnapping charges considered."

I think you're all missing the big picture. How was this clearly deranged individual able to simply walk into a store and purchase a dangerous "assault knife" without any kind of background check, waiting period, or registration? Clearly, further legislation is needed to prevent such a tragedy from happening in the future.

Ragnar, I would still be a good witness most of the time. In this case, the defender saw that the guy was acting weird and probably attacking total strangers. It's a bit different than just walking into a violent situation when you have no idea what is going on.

I hope to bump into him and talk to him about it at a local event sooner or later.

Who knows how many people are still alive and unharmed because this hero didn't just think "I'll be a good witness".

Agreed. I'd hate to imagine a world where no men will stand up against heinous acts unless there is no risk to themselves or somebody has handed them a badge. The hero was able to stop further injuries or death and detained the suspect succesfully. While i find it highly unlikely CCP holder will face criminal or civil action i would be more than happy to contribute to his legal fees as i'm sure many others would. Hell, Zimmerman has raised over $200K with a shady looking website and a much more questionable scenario.

The only thing I found questionable about the Martin/Zimmerman scenario was the liberal media's blind rush to judgement. As the facts come out it seems Zimmerman's version is closer to the truth. I sent him $50 because I despise the "black panthers" and the ultra racist anti white segment of the black community. The hypocrisy of a double standard sucks!

I wasn't saying Zimmerman did or did not act improperly. Only pointing out that it is a far more ambiguous case than the one being discussed in this thread. Unlike with Zimmerman it is much clearer what actually happened here. Also, I saw no way to verify the zimmerman website i saw was real or just a scam.

Don't know everything that happened but I'm glad the witness used restraint in capturing this person. Hopefully the victims weren't seriosly injured.

"This was a really volatile situation that could have gotten even worse," Purvis said. "(The bystander) was definitely in the right place at the right time."

Maybe should read: "This was the right bystander, who was definitely in the right place and at the right time."

In Wisconsin, they would have seized his legal gun, for evidence.

If this individual had had to fire his, it likely would have been collected as well. That's typical, though I have heard of cases in which the officer has even asked the defender if he (or she) has another gun with which he can remain armed until he gets the one involved back.

Pretty much a situation in which one has to fish or cut bait, proof there are really black and white cases that don't require to much soul searching to decide what is right and wrong. Glad the guy did the right thing, we will never know suffering that he averted. To bad for the two that he couldn't help.
