A few more close ups

The Coyote brown G-10 is a looker I just could not bring myself to bead blast that handle, so it got a nice polish and looks like creamy brown Ivory. I think I will be making more knives with this handle material on it...:)

Beautiful, Gary.

I'm a little sad that I won't get to play with mine until November! Hate for anything to happen to it over here, though.

Thanks for the update Gary, looking forward to getting it!

need to read it HSO

LOL HSO you need to read the message, not just drool over the pictures:D

That knife has Coyote Brown G10 on it and it sure looks like the old linen Micarta, nice grain pattern and color changes in the pattern. It holds a very nice polish and works very well. cleaner than Micarta and not chippy at all..

I called back the guy I got it from and asked for more, I think it is the poo...

I was too distracted by the beauty of it to actually read (and you know how it makes my lips tired). That really does look like caramel mastodon. Is it that good up close?

Burlap Brown

NEAT!

I likes a lot, 'cept, well, no disrespect, but folks would chide me to no end if'n I did a "coyote brown" for myself.

Charge ten bucks more and call it Burlap Brown...
Just a marketing idear Gary...

[Now Gary knows why I kept the green micarta "3 finger knife" for myself and gave as a gift the same knife with brown micrarta handles.]

*grin*

Close up?

Well HSO

Up close it looks better than in the picture, good to the point I am looking at a lazy W pattern damascus blade with an idea of using it... But then you know I have no taste, look at the guys I hang out with??? yea you get the idea

Let them eat cake

Hey SM

Well you could call it Camel dung brown if you want, but find some that was petrified and there is a knife maker who would put it on a knife... LOL and if it looked better than that G10 I might just do it myself and there are more than one or two guys out there who would pester the heck out of me to get it off my belt, no matter the price.... I just could not resist selling it too.

Yeah, that's what came to mind.

How grippy is that G10, Gary? I had a knife made for me a few years ago that is almost perfect, but the G10 handle is polished a little too smoothly for my taste.

John

That's a good point, John.

Polished blades don't have many drawbacks for use, but a grip can have the grippiness polished right out of it.

Gary

LOL!

Some around here know me, and what I used to do, as far as "craftsmanship", and hence the reason I know how "customers" can be. Hey, call it what you want, but pay me. Old Mentors said one could charge more for such stuff, as person's ego, sometimes demand a "name".

Re: grippy. I agree with John, and Mike on "over polishing" handles, firearm stocks and such. One of the neat things about ivory, is even though it is "smooth" it is grippy, when wet, including wet with blood. Hence the reason I had ivory handles /stocks on some knives and for firearms such as 1911s and J and K frames. ( I also had 18K and 14K gold bead front sights on these serious carry guns).

Sending best,

Steve

? Grippy ?

Ya know guys I have a prety good feel to what is good or bad in one of my knives, even with WD40 all over my hands I did not notice anything out of normal on the handle. But then it has good ergonomics{I hope I spelled that one right, yea yea HSO I know spell check and dictonaries have been out for a good long time} any way the handles shape will tend to make your hand move forward against the guard.

I will check it out to see if the stuff is going to work as polished or will I have to bead blast it or possibly checker/stripple a panel on it.

Yes, we KNOW you have a pretty good idea of what works for grip. *smile*

I agree, ergo [Gary cheat, don't spell the whole word as I just did. *wink*]does play a important part.
Hence the reason I carried Gov't Model of 1911, or sometimes a BHP.

One of the reasons I went nuts over seeing the "3 finger" knife of yours, and am so pleased, and hope to obtain more in the future is...Mentor is dead, still he had a South African make me a custom knife very much like this one. It had Ivory handles. Amongst others was a small knife akin to Kim Breed's "small necker". No handles, leather sheath...

Some stuff is proven.

Like trying to keep ahold of a coffee mug, with Ballistol all over your hands,
and your wife just stepping out of the shower and "someone" spilt some Ballistol on the master bath floor.
No. Twining's Irish Breakfast Tea does not make Ballistol less slippery...trust me on this.

*whups*

Tape !!!! Para cord!!!!!!

Oh man HSO just bite your self on the stinky part, as if that would make things better :banghead: I wonder about you a lot.... Tractor Gal Might want to have you checked out and the sooner the better, it may not be to late...

For Lady G at least, i was just hoping she might get it narrowed down as to how long she is going to have to wait, or she might want to enlist special help to move things along.. All she has to do is call, we work cheap and fast, but the mess is all on her.. Hey She could just dig a big hole and push you in then cover it up with the new tractor.....:D

Oh Goody!

Gary is on Mike's case. *smile*

I have used spray on truck bed-liner on some gun and knife applications, and it will work. [Better on guns than knives in my opinion.]

Also whatever the heck the yeller spray on "non slip" stuff used on steps.
[Mike knows of what I speak and can clarify]

Let me just say, these two will chew your hands all to pieces in "lessons-n-set-ups (some call these defensive training...)

I used wood from a old apple crate to make handles on the saw mill blade fixed blade knife I had fashioned after I finally got the yeller stuff off of it.

Learning from mistakes is a good thang...
*sheesh*

Steve

[SM Wrote Gary is on Mike's case. *smile*]

Naw I would never get on HSO's case just crawl under his skin a wee bit and get him to itching a little..

He would think I didn't like him if I was not my normal abrasive self..

They used to send me CPT's that needed to be smothed out a bit, after a few months I had worn them down or they left for less rocky roads..

Ooooooo, bed liner spray!

:neener:

Ok, we'll just leave it the way it is. :D

Gary,

Tractor Girl doesn't have a scoop or bucket for the thing yet so we'll have to put off the dirty deeds done dirt cheap bit for a while.
