I took my AT-9 out to the range yesterday. I've owned it for months and just
now shot it.

I used Uzi mags modified w/ an extra notch to fit the AT-9
mag catch. Those Uzi mags suck at getting all 32 rounds in.
I only got about 20 rounds in each mag.

Anyway I thought I'd have feed problems because
of the mags and a $150.00 dollar gun (yes I only paid $150.00
For this beaut, I've seen em on gunbroker sel for $600 plus).

It shot awesome!! It's the only 9mm gun I
own, it shot super tight double tap "groups" at 15
Yards like nothing!!!

Really fun gun.

I only had one FTF (out of 100 steel and brass ammo) and the steel cased round
Split, it was ejected and discarded.

Fun to shoot, mag release is awkward. Safety is a little
awkward. The wire stock is slightly uncomfortable
on your face when shooting, but nothing that can't be handled.

I wish I had a barrel shroud just for the cool factor.

Does anyone have a schematic or measurements for adding the mag catch
notch in the Uzi mags since they are easier to get than original Feather Ind. $50.00 mags?

Thanks
Steve

I can't attach the photo of myAT-9 from my phone.
I'll have to do it from the computer tomorrow.
Thanks

WANT!

I've been wanting one of those ever since first seeing them in the gun-rags of my youth (80's).

Last one I saw in person was at a gun show a few years ago and they wanted nearly $500. I had a shopping list and limited funds at the time, so I had to pass.

However, it's still one of those firearms I drool over whenever I see them if for nothing more than nostalgia.

I fired an AT-9 that came into the shop used a few years back.

I was surprised and pleased with the accuracy and feel in general. It's not a fighting carbine by any means, but it makes for a fun plinker.

They also chamber a carbine in 10mm that takes G20 mags. IMO that's pretty nifty seeing few carbines are chambered for the 10mm aside from the Mech Tech upper and the Lonewolf. I can't say I've seen their new stuff for sale anywhere outside of gunbroker and theyre sparse there but apparently they've been around a day or two.

I never had any issue loading 30 rounds in a 32 round Uzi mag (using a loading tool) ...are you sure they aren't blocked...or maybe actually 20 round mags? A 32 round mag will be about 13 1/2 inches in length.

Yeah the mags were definitly 32 rounders. I also have a few of hte 25 round Uzi mags. I'm acutally sending those off to a pistol smith/machinist who will machine a new notch/mag catch so i can use in my AT-9.

Maybe the problem w/ loading all the rounds in the mag was I was using steel cased ammo and old a$$ ammo that I had and it was really tarnished.

heres the pic I took after I cleaned it up....

Put some blue "painters tape" on the mag in the @ mag release location.
Insert the mag and look for a mark from the mag lock.
Drill a few holes and hand file till it fits.

I did a handfull for a friend and they all worked great.
Stay away from E.German mags. I think they used spring steel on the
mags.I destroyed new drills and didn't even put a dent in them.
IMI mags were easy to work on.

HA, im too late Mr. CR. I just sent them off UPS to a machinist/pistolsmith who will work on that 1911 project for me and the mags. I never thought of the blue tape idea. If i find some cheap uzi mags ill try that for myself sometime.

Great idea. Man I wish you lived in SA, I would swing by your place and let you show me a thing or two. I still havent worked on my Lee Reloader...

THanks though, I appreciate the ideas.

I've got an AT-9. I had the barrel threaded & I've shot it suppressed a couple of times. It performed well, until ...

The recoil spring came out the end of the buffer. I haven't tried to find a replacement for it yet, or if one is even available.

That is a steal for $150. Congrats

I've been wanting one for the last 15 years but could never bring myself to spend $500+ for one..

Thanks Jager, KingTiger you can try contacting Feather USA. Just google them and you'll find their website.

I can tell you they will NEVER answer their phone but will return emails (slowly but they do respond). I was able to buy a new front sight (the original one was broken). They did not have any barrel shrouds but they may have the parts you need. I think the email is [email protected] but im not 100%.

Thanks
Steve
