Question for those with soft lead in clips and loaders

I've been looking at an SWCHP load in .38

I'm used to carrying gold dots (jacketed) and the dpx (all copper).

I'm curious, for those whom carry soft lead in moonclips or speedloaders, do you notice deformation of the soft bullet?

Have you noticed any degradation of the bullet that leaves lead dust or flak in your pockets and or/pouch?

Are the bullets soft enough to leave residue on your hands or clothing when touched?

Thanks,

No personal experience, but I've got a book that shows the lead hollowpoints swaged closed after spending some time in a speed strip.

Soft SWC in pocket

They tend to polish up in my pocket. So that means they leave a bit of lead.
Have not noticed any problems. I shoot my carry ammo up at least once a month.

Thanks for the responses. I'm trying to avoid lead dust on clothing since I'm around children at times. I'll likely load the SWCHP in the firearm and keep the DPX rounds in the speed-loaders to prevent transfer.

I use speed strips and carry them in a leather belt pouch. I have not noticed any deformation or flaking in my SWCHP rounds. I'm sure it happens but nothing that would cause alarm.

Exactly what i do, because the LSWCHP do deform, as you may think. Both in strips, and in loaders where you split some behind of the belt as well as in front.

Perfect way to go if you want spares other than jacketed fodder.

Tony,

Unless the kids are directly exposed to your pockets or belt pouches they should be okay. Lead dust from shooting is more of a danger I would guess.
