i;ve got an itch to get one but i'm pretty lost on what brand i have about $700 to spend and a Arsenal is a little out of my price range. i've read about wasr10 and there kinda hit or miss.is there a middle of the road AK in my price range?

I build my own, but I checked one of these out at my LGS and the fit and finish is VERY nice. It is manufactured IN Romania, chrome lined, and has an RPK rear sight. It also already has the quad rail (if you are into that). The only thing you may not like is the shortened sight radius. Heres the link, I know they are sold out but I know they are available elsewhere. Good luck.

Look at atlantic firearms. They have every thing from cheapest to $2000 krebs custom.

Saiga get's my vote... The conversion will come to the same price as an Arsenal (which is why I got it), but the Saiga is probably one of the best AKs around, unless you're really wanting a specific type.

meh.. don't waste your money on the hype. Any of Century's recent AKs will do great, they are a better product than years past. You can probably find one if you look, they are on a six week back order but they're out there.. $500-6 NIB The recent AKMS models are very nicely done.

Pick up the Saiga IZ-132 from Classic Arms for $350 and slap on a conversion kit to replace the stock, add a pistol grip and replace the trigger group for another $140 at carolinashooterssupply and end up with a much better product than the WASR 10/63 for less and 90% of the other AKs out there. The Saiga is made in the Izmash Arms Factory in Russia where they make the AKs for the military.

Not to sound like I'm kissing Blaine's ass, but that Yugo from Atlantic looks pretty damn good. Better than a WASR but you aren't wiped out like an Arsenal.

There are no current Arsenal SGL 21 series rifles in production so the market is pretty tight hope to see more in July we just hope they do not raise the price again.

If you are looking for a lower priced AK the M10 series have been a solid AK line and so have the Interarms IAC 47 rifles both $599.00 or under. They are hard to find right now but we expect better inventorys in 2 -4 weeks and the price looks like it will remain the same.If you did not want the full on AK package you could always convert a basic Saiga .

+1 What Cyclopsshooter said ^

Century has stepped up their game quite a bit in the last few years. The newer wasr's aren't near as bad as they used to be. I love mine. Yeah the mag rattles a little bit but it shoots great and very reliable. Shooting prone with a bipod I can hit a man sized target all day at 300 yards with the iron sights with wolf ammo. What more could you ask for from an AK? My next purchase is going to be a century AK74 bullpup.
