As well , we checked on a favord Camp, Kookoochack and dropped off a few things to lighten the load and made our way the to the 'inlet', Kobuk Lake' between the rivers mouths here on the Delta and the Sea.

Didnt see any Sea animals down there, but the river is advanced out only about 1/4 miles, but while we were there, i knocked off a dozen ducks, fat and fresh from the South and a great agument to the Hotdogs, mustard and dryed meat we brought for the day. We checked on the house at the "Lower camp" where we wait for waether or stay at when were hunting/fishing down by the lake, and found the winters occupant wasnt very neat or clean to our dismay, so we returnd to our Kookoochack Camp and went to work.

We all cleand an old Fur Cache' the father in law built in the 50's with trees around, and a few years back we replaced the barrels that keep mice and other roadent from the furs (cant climb up), and being a good roof and breezey walls, Fur will be hung in there soon, as we leave our beddings and winter clothes in there.Good for storeing all kinds of cloth, fur and such.

Great input. how 'bout that beaver hit? Amazing.

My wife and I really enjoyed both postings. One thing I gotta ask.... Beavers n Ducks - where's that from? We've always cracked up at the phrase since the use in the movie "Bandits" and wondered if there was an earlier source.

Hmm, barrels to keep the mice out. That's pretty ingenious. :D Back country knowledge, I guess.

Love me some ducks. When those suckers get back down here, I bought me a new to me shotgun to play with. Just put sling swivels and a limb saver on it today. It's kinda like Christmas in June. :D

Yes....."Beavers and Ducks" put a smile on our faces as well, from "Bandits", and its truely a good description of Spring Hunting. Folks here even use BillyBobs accent when sayin' it:D
The birds have come back, and the Beaver is still a great 'fur' and wanted much for its Red color, and is used by skin sewing women like winter trapped Black/dark Brown fur.Another color for a very tough hide.

Mostly, now that the river ice has gone was to check the camps and gear we have there, before we move inna couple weeks to hunt/fish and move on in our big circle.

Bunches of us here do the deer/hog/elk/prairie dog thing, but darned few even have a chance to see what folks in the "way out there" do. caribou, your posts and pictures are among the best to ever be seen in this forum.

caribou you are a very lucky man to live like you do and have such a large happy family. Most of us could only dream of such an existance. I always await your pictures and stories thank you for sharing.

You are truly blessed to have such a beautiful loving family and for leading the life that most of us can only dream about. Not saying your life is easy, because I know better, but ya'll pull together for family. God bless.

Caribou,

Thanks for the posts and the pictures. They are awesome.

One question though old man. Are all of those girl critters yours?

All them Girly types is mine,H&H one wife, 5 daughters :D With 24 hour sunshine I dont have to spring for Tanning sessions, lotsa wind helps the hair and if in doubt, a wash is in the river for their 'Clean it now!" way of going about things ~~LOL!!~~

The two oldest, being Sons, were much easier on me.
