I've used the the 3 way cutter on my 223 stuff and it's awesome. A huge time saver

I have the RCBS 3 way cutter in .223 and it works very well once adjusted.

This system trims to length and chamfers inside and out in 5 or 10 seconds per round.

The only thing better is to segregate the brass to a single rifle and neck size. Then never trim. Get 30 firings before it needs a trim.

That is no help to semi auto guys, you must trim.

I have the 30 cal cutter and it is awesome. I reload a couple hundred .30-06 for the shooting season and it saves me hours and does a better job than the lee setup I had before. Only downside is its a pain to set up and you need to readjust if you try to use it on .30-30 and .30-06 because the brass is thinner. Probably wouldn't need to be tweaked between .30-06 and .308.

Totally worth it.

3-way cutter

Best money I have spent to date since starting to reload. I really hate trimming cases. It really cuts down on the prep time, trims, deburrs and chamfers in one operation. I use the RCBS trim pro and attached a drill to the trimmer...talk about a real time saver.

I can't see exactly how the shell holder works. It looks like you clamp the base of the shellholder in the vice, then use the vice grips to lock and unlock the case? How far do you have to turn the lock to get the brass in/out?

That's pretty slick, the only thing better might be to use the holder off the RCBS trimmer, which you can buy separately for $45 (or nearly 10x the cost of the Lee ). I've seen vids of guys trimming with the RCBS trimmer, and that spring loaded shellholder mechanism really seems to work well. The handle would need to be modified, which shouldn't be that big a deal.

A carbide cutter makes it even better.

BTW, for Forster Original Trimmer owners.....ditto.

You don't have to sells yours and get an RCBS.
Just order the new carbide 3-way cutters Forster makes. They work as advertized.

It is ~ 1/4 turn.

You adjust the trimmer for length. Then adjust the outside cutter for giving a light deburring.

It'll make sense when you get your hands on it.

Totally worth it; don't have to take an extra step to debur stuff. Saves time.

Also - keep a thin paintbrush handy to sweep out brass flakes between runs.

Brass *will* build up in the cutter and change your overall cut length by a few thousandths and reduce the effectiveness of the deburring parts over time. Not a huge deal unless your making precision ammo where neck length needs to be identical, but something to keep an eye on. Easy enough to brush out the flakes here and there.
