Literally, for a year or more, I have sought to acquire a Beretta Model 70 .22LR. Finally, I could wait no longer and bought a Ruger SR22 ("Eva") and 750 rounds of ammo - which it had digested admirably.
2 days later a Model 70 pops up on gunauction.com and I went after it like a cat who hears a can opener. I told myself I would not be high bidder. The 70 series, but especially the .22LRs, are hot items. Well, on Father's Day I received notice I had won the auction and I am anxiously awaiting "Magda," liberated from the Peoples Republic of California - too small for the 68 Gun Control Act. (Eh, maybe I'll name her Charlie after Diane Keaton in "The Little Drummer Girl.")
While I have been waiting I notice that there are listed or mentioned various places a Beretta Model 70"S". Assuming there is such a creature, does anyone know the difference between a plain ol' Model 70 and a Model 70"S"?
Thanks!
