IWB holster for Glock 17L ?

I ordered 16" and 10" IBG barrels from MDW guns and they just arrived today so I couldn't resist. 
I'm going to get some range time with them and see how they work. I'm hoping I don't have to either put in a lighter spring or shoot hotter ammo - but we'll see.

I don't have a chrono, but the IGB barrel has two ports in it, at about 6.5"
The ports look a little larger than a millimeter.
I'm thinking that the ports result in lower velocity than a "true" 16 inch carbine - like the Marlin Camp Carbine or the Ruger PC9.
Still, it's tempting to get a chrono and get the HST +P and clock them.

IGB is a barrel maker in Austria. IGB makes conversion barrels, ported, and threaded barrels and non-standard length barrels for most Glock models. The Glock typically has difficulty cycling with barrels past 7.5” The Impulse System was developed to enable standard semi-automatic pistols which feature a Browning-type tilt and lock-up to function properly with barrel’s longer than 7.5” (up to 16”)
The IGB barrels have two ports in them about ½ from the front end of the slide. The barrel is also threaded here, and a hood screws over the threads. IGB calls this the “Impulse Energy Collector” It’s just a chamber that collects gas. The chamber tightens in place with an allen screw, Also fitting over the barrel and into the chamber is a ring, which functions as a piston, IGB calls this the Impulse Energy Carrier. One end of the piston sits in the chamber, just rear of the gas ports, the other end of the piston sits against the front of the slide. The instructions say to leave a slight visible gap between the slide, the ring and the hood. I left enough room so I could stick a piece of paper through the gap.
When the cartridge fires, the chamber pressurizes with gas from the ports, the pressure sends the ring/piston back against the front of the slide, aiding in cycling.

I purchased the 10” and 16” barrels from MDW guns. I had to wait a little longer than expected. I think Marc at MDW was on a learning curve with importing these things from Austria, for instance, he didn’t know until after he’d followed up on a delay that Austria had changed how they process these exports. These sort of things happen whenever you’re going through a process for the first time. I think now that’s he’s gained experience doing these imports that anyone ordering these from Marc now would get accurate ETAs.

I put 100 rounds through my Glock 17L with the 16” barrel and another 100 rounds through it with the 10” barrel. Both barrels worked fine. I didn’t have any problem cycling or ejection, no malfunctions of any kind.
The gun did spit out little hot bits of something onto my weak hand. I couldn’t figure out exactly what this was. They were tiny – about the size of a grain of sand. After about 25 rounds it stopped. I’m guessing it was metal shavings, because I found some metal shavings in the slide afterward.
The 16” barrel shot quite a bit low - ½” low at 25 feet compared to the stock barrel which is right on – elevation wise at that distance. This could obviously be compensated for by zeroing the sights, but then switching back and forth between barrels requires re-zeroing.
The 10” barrel didn’t shoot nearly as low – being about ¼” low at 50 feet. Despite shooting low – the 10” barrel was very accurate, or at least I shot it more accurately than I shoot the stock 6” barrel. Shooting offhand, my 5 shot group at 50” was one hole about ½” across – just below the bullseye.
I fired the 16” without the stock, and I think it’s just pretty difficult to fire offhand like that, I have no idea how accurate the barrel is, my shot groups were horrible, but I’ll put the stock on it and go back to the range sometime soon.
Both barrels made for a softer recoiling shot and less muzzle rise, but the 16” was unique, it was almost like a two-stage recoil, chunk-chunk type of feel to it

Evidence suggests Mexican Carry may be a viable option.

Actually....once I lost my beer gut I did carry a 34 appendix carry a few times just because I was amazed I could do it with reasonable comfort. It's not something I'd want to do on a daily basis, though.
Carrying it in a crossbreed holster is no problem at all IWB. I'd like to see chrono results, myself. Really cool, never heard of that outfit until today. Thanks for sharing!
