Duh. Car problems.

If I admitted to having cash, people would want to borrow money off me. :)

Mustang is the only note I have. House was paid off this year, own all of my other vehicles outright. Didn't NEED to finance the mustang but had nothing left to give me a monthly uptick on my credit score. So I bought the car (for cash) then took the title in to the bank and got a loan on it.

So, yeah, I'm abusing debt, but it's for a good purpose. My business's credit runs off of MY credit score, since I'm the owner. Gotta keep that score going up. :)

I know your pain, and I can't even bum cargo space off the wife. I bought a double-sided hard case for range trips, and while it barely fits in my wife's car, it most certainly will not fit in my 2011 Mustang.

My solution? The case rides shotgun on my way to the range.

I know you've found your solution, but it might also help to think vertical: if it won't lay across the seat, try putting the case on the floor and lean it against the back seat. This works best in a convertible on a sunny day - no trouble with getting through narrow door openings or fitting it under the roof. Just hope it doesn't rain...

i sold a prius a couple years ago for same reason. had a barrett m95 that wouldn't fit in it

You should have built a turret and just mounted the barret on the prius. The looks alone, from people of the left and right, would have been worth the hassle.

Figured I got one more year left before my insurance rates go up.. up.. up.. By the time he's 18, I have 4 more kids stacked behind him who'll be getting of age. So for the next 12 years... yeah you get the picture.

Anyway I traded my F250 superduty in on a brand spanking new 2012 Mustang GT. Awesome car. Everything was great with the car until today, absolutely no regrets...

Except when I went to load up my 50BMG ....

.... and it wouldn't fit in the car.

(At least, not with the pelican case.

OK, I'm hearing the words "five kids", "new 2012 Mustang GT", "50 BMG", and "pelican case".

Yeah... I don't feel sorry for your financial troubles involving insurance at all!

Wasn't looking for sympathy, just looking for a solution. My wife doesn't drive stick shift, so when I borrow her car, she's stuck at home with all the kids. THAT makes asking for permission to use her car... rather problematic. Because it always costs me something. :)

On top of our 5 kids. I also have guardianship and custody of my mentally disabled sister. So I provide for a household-of-8. You should see it when we go out to eat. The rear passenger door opens on my wife's Expedition and it looks like a troop of clowns getting out since everyone in back gets out that side through that one door!

Long car rides with the whole clan are downright miserable experiences.

My solution? The case rides shotgun on my way to the range.

I second this. Lay the passenger seat back most of the way, stick the case in pointing up and back so the front edge is on the floor and the back is held up by the head rest. run the belt over it and you should be fine.

You could also widen the trunk access hole. Thats a bit more involved though...

Lose the mid life crisis. Get the $500($1500) pick-up. Stop complaining. Enjoy life.

I'm really glad I don't have problems like you. Good luck.

I was able to fit more junk in my '89 GT with a cage than my current '04 elantra will even think about handling. Just the oposit for my '02 trans am, I'll have to build an SBR to fit anything in the "trunk".

While you may be legal in reference to the criminal codes in Illinois to transport the gun with the bolt removed, the Wildlife codes in Illinois REQUIRE the gun to be transported in a case.

Around here everyone has a bike, canoe, kayak, ski, big box rack on the top of their autos.
If you can strap a fifteen foot canoe to the top of an auto, I guess you could strap a very large pelican case to one also.
