madmike,

The shorter set of barrels looks like a real "salad shooter" ! Guessing 12", maybe 14" ? Hell hath no fury.......... Never mind me, I see whats taken place, my bad.

Here's mine cut down for a Reenactment. It came out as a "paragon" but it's the same as the 311. 18.5 inch barrels and bead reinstalled.

Unlike birdshot, buckshot holds a tighter pattern from a gun with a cylinder choke. When you shoot buckshot through a full choke it deforms the pellets. I am willing to bet with the proper load for that gun it will hold a pattern out to 40 yards. One thing that you did do is make the gun worthless. Right now it has a value of about $50. With a couple of coats of linseed oil on the stock it would have brought over $200.

Stevens made an 18" barrel version as 311R that was handy as a police stake-out gun.

Quite frankly, looking about I have found little or no collector interest in 311s; they are treated as old guns, sturdy farmer's specials may be.

The "Shorter set" are the cut off muzzles. They're not good for anything.

I wonder if you could duct tape them to a stick and turn it in for a gift card at a "gun buyback" event?

A Stevens double in reasonable shape should fetch around $500.

So... why not sell it, buy the Norinco coach gun in the link below and pocket the $250 profit? You get your coach gun and an extra $250. Somebody who values an old American double gets your Stevens. Everybody's happy!

I will go alone with this man that gun should bring around 500.00

I'll sell you as many as you want at $500. I'll be buying them on Gunbroker at $250.

Except for .410s

Most Stevens are asking $300 at every gunshow I go to and gunbroker shows many for less. Unless it's a 16ga - cut it up.

I used to buy stevens/sears for $75 at pawnshops all day long and then cut them down to a 19" with a pistol grip and sell them for $200+ over and over again.

I wonder what the OP decided to do. His second post was his last in this thread...April of last year.

I have a old Savage model 430 O/U 12ga. I cut the barrels to 20 inches. Despite the fact that it is a quick handling gun, I have regretted the change since. The chop really changed the swing dynamics.
