Hey guys, so I posted back in December about a rusted out neglected, non working Colt DS my friend gave me. Well i just got it back from the gunsmith and I LOVE THIS REBOLVER!!!! It has become my new baby!
The smith completely sanded down the whole gun, re did all the internals, parkerized finish, and put a set of hogue grips on it!!! It still has acne scars but I don't care, gives it a little character! Double action is butter smooth and ergonomics are spectacular on this weapon!

The best part?? All the gunsmith work was free!!
Pics to come..

We got bear, deer, turkey, elk (if you draw a tag), small game and some of the best duck and geese hunting in the world in Arkansas. Tell him to give me a call!

who is your gunsmith

I have had a Diamondback at a local guy since September.

If I would have gotten it back with an intact trigger guard I would have tried to get Old Fuff to fix it

:what:

My Smith is just a family friend who plays with guns when he gets home from work, that's why it took so long. I guess he's semi shade tree..
But if you live in the dfw area, Rays Hardware and Sportingoods has 2 smiths upstairs that are phenomenal!!

How would I know how to fix it? All I know is how to chop trigger guards.

" Give Old Fluff one of your Diamondbacks and give the rest to me and we'll forgive you."

Who wants them?

They r outdated and according to the Internet, they break every 9 shots.

Guys

I would give u some Colts, but I am at the bare minimum.

Saxon Pig, on the other hand, has dozens and dozens. He might offer u a few.

I don't even have my first dozen :cuss:

cwduke08,
I was given a Colt DS by a friend who bought a a whole lot of revolvers but he doesn't collect Colts. He decided to offer it as a Karma and I won it! It is in a similar condition to what you described but I don't care what it looks like because it's a great shooter! As you can see in the pics below it's in rough shape but I'm very happy with it because it shoots great, what a gift!!!

I had a very nice Colt D.S. Looked to be in unfired condition, great trigger. Then I got married. Some how my Colt D.S. became her Colt D.S. Still trying to figure out how that happened.

Guillermo

If this "local smith" has had your Colt since September of last year, maybe you'd better reclaim it before he really DOES fix it. A wrong move on his part could leave you with a paperweight. If no progress has been made by now maybe he's giving you a hint. :uhoh:

Archangel, mine was definitely worse! But yours looks good with the shrouded ejector rod! Mine is a 68-69... But a fine shooter no doubt!

Did you by any chance upload those pics via iPhone??

Old Fuff,

Not sure what the deal is, but the guy has a good reputation. One of his employees is an American Handgunner Top 100 pistolsmiths in America.

He claimed to be waiting for a part. I was there last week and it was untouched, not molested.

Call and ask what the part is. You may be able to find one before they do. They may be looking, or just "hardly looking."

Generally speaking you don't have to replace parts unless someone did some home 'smithing or a part is actually broken. Most of these older Colt's that are out-of-time can be brought back by making a few adjustments if the internals haven't been messed with.

But don't tell nobody... :D

claims it needs a hand which Numrich has.

I emailed him the link

My guess is that it is a matter of priority rather than ineptitude.

Either way, I won't be back.
