Glock 36 FTE help

Lubing a glock? Cleaning a glock?

Glocks don't need that!

/sarcasm off

Lube your guns, people. All guns are different insofar as how much lube to use and what kind... but they absolutely should be lubed.
Yes. Clean your extractor and make sure you clean the entire gun, leaving the striker channel/firing pin dry. If this does not correct your problem send your G36 back to Glock. Mine has been working flawless and the recoil is not as bad as people say it is. Good luck.

Remove the extractor, its not hard to do...post a good clear pic of the hook on it that lets us view it from the top and bottom.

This is an extractor issue IMO...and an extractor is an easy fix (do it yourself or send it to Glock)

Sent from my DROID RAZR MAXX!

Do you think that cleaning and oiling(?) the extractor might help this problem? or maybe 100 - 200 more rounds through the 36?

It's a Glock. I have a Glock 17 I clean and oil every 1k or more. I've owned many Glocks. Yours should work w/out pampering. This is a gun issue. IMO an extractor issue. More ammo to fix is just wasting ammo and money. Hopefully, an extractor assembly change fixes it. If not, it's a much larger problem. Good luck.

i hope these pictures can help this out.

The hook looks a little off...but it could just be the pic....is the hook rounded just a little bit?

It should be straight and flat....if its not that could cause it to slip over the rim as the slide comes back if the pressure hasn't fully dropped when the slide starts moving (the timing on a 36 doesn't leave much room for error)

Check the rim on the round it leaves in the chamber....you should be able to tell of the hook has been dragged back over it.

A new extractor is about $20...Or Glock would replace it for free if they can replicate the malfunction.

My 36 has NEVER missed a beat, and I've tried every conceivable scenario to make it choke (limp wrist, mixed ammo in the mag, etc...even all of them combined)...it just keeps on going like the energizer bunny (several thousand rounds so far). The only quirk I've noticed is erractic ejection with weak ammo (such as WWB)...it still runs even with that, but it throws brass in all directions.

My G36 has never had any issues either and I love the gun. Glock will replace the extractor if they find a fault in it. Glock has excellent customer service.

Okay easiest thing is to just replace the extractor. i rather not send it in, have them not replicate it, have it sent back to me/wait all this time for nothing.

I didnt find too much info online, but since im getting a new extractor, would you recommend me into looking into aftermarket like lone wolf or just go to the closest gun store and pick up an OEM?

and is this something i should be calling and ordering direct from glock?

A new gun that fails to operate is a paper weight.. Get rid of it regardless of the name on the slide.

the irony here is i bought a glock for its known reliability and ease of use/maintenance. hopefully the new extractor will fix things. if not, i guess i should have just paid the extra $200 and bought the sig p220 carry i was looking at.

Sometimes the 220's don't run either...its just the nature of modern manufacturing...there will be lemons from time to time.

Glocks are "by design" made to be easy to manufacture...most of them run fine.

update:

went to the range today. only 1 FTE out of the box of 50 of remington. looks like new extractor improved it!

someone did point out that the empty casings were ejecting straight up in the air - i didnt notice it - but better than failing.

thanks everyone!

Look closely at the extractor claw ... with magnification if possible. Is it bent or broken? Years ago, before I knew better, I'd let the slide go into battery with a round already chambered. I broke one claw and bent another. Both damaged extractors caused FTEs.

"I had a 36 that did this and i swapped out a glock 30 extractor rod and it cured the problem."

Can you please tell me where you got this glock 30 extractor rod? I'm seeing the same issues with my 36 that Glock has been unable or unwilling to fix and I would like to try this fix. I've looked everywhere online for a "glock 30 extractor rod" and I'm coming up empty.

Thanks
