What gun conversations/threads do you not engage in? Not trying to be ironic.

Most of mind have been mentioned (caliber wars, glock vs 1911, AR vs AK, anything tactical).

I used to frequent another popular board, but there were so many political, conspiracy and tinfoil hat posts it drove me nuts. I read the site on my phone, and it wasn't easy to sort the list. Not only did I not participate, but it was annoying to even see the topics.

Very happy with the mods here on THR for keeping things (mostly) focused, and not letting threads devolve into political bickering.

So I got called out for not liking so many things that the only thread left for me to engage in was the complaint thread - maybe I'm a bit picky, but being a critic is the easy part. So on a positive note, what type of gun related threads do you all like to read or engage in?

I like the photo threads - there's some serious photographic talent on here and I like seeing the cool guns that other people have. Some of my purchases have been because a picture on a forum piqued my interest.

I like the history threads - I'm a historian by profession, so the development of firearms and the stories behind them always interest me.

Similarly, I like the guns with a story threads - whether it's been passed down, won in a match, brought back by a vet, all guns have a story. I like hearing them.

I like the gun smithing threads - Ive learned a lot from the knowledgeable members on here, more than a few come to mind. This is an area that I need to improve, as I'd like to be more able to work on minor issues with my guns.

I like the reloading threads - for much the same reason, I learn a lot from the veteran reloaders here.

I like the range report threads - impressions of a gun from someone who owns one is always interesting, and a good range report is a good read.

I like the shooting technique threads - I've picked up a ton of good information about how to shoot different styles of guns or different types of competition from these forums - for example I've only recently started shooting DA revolvers in IDPA and I've learned a lot about the proper technique here.

I like the classic gun threads - I'm still an accumulator, so I like talking old guns...

Also very happy with the moderation of this board, they've done a great job of keeping THR civil and on point.

There, see? I'm not that cynical or negative!

I like whatever thread(s) most closely relate to the particular aspect I am currently focusing on. Pistol, revolver, rifle, shotgun, various uses for these, reloading, range use, carry, etc...I tend to notice and hone in on whichever aspect I am currently researching for myself (or just finished researching) or currently actively engaging in.

Any thread where I have to do a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent...... ;)

Especially the zombie, need a gun in the shower, of the "what if scenario? ones that could only exist in a video game

If you could only have 13 guns what would they be? Please, serious answers only. This is a serious discussion and if you don't have anything real to say about my idiotic thread then please don't respond bc seriously, if you really could only have 9 guns what would they be?

The threads that are "Is this a justifiable Homicide?" with some sort of hypethetical self defense situation.

Ones I like.... Honest Reviews on products ( not It Sucks ). True blue pros - cons. Helps alot in making a purchase descision.

I love almost every thread, but I can not do the caliber wars anymore. That said though, the caliber war threads plus my own research have lead me to what I believe will be my final conclusion on the matter. 9, 40 and 45 in my eyes are all so close it does not matter. Now days I look at what I can shoot well, like to shoot and the how good the trigger is for my preference.

I can not stand when people that I did not ask their opinion about caliber start preaching to me about "stopping power" and percentages and penetration and blah blah blah. I was at my LGS and looking at a G27 and another customer started lecturing me on how 9mm is just as effective... blah blah blah.... I just wanted the G27 because I could get a conversion barrel and have more ammo selection sheesh. :banghead:

Still love every bear thread though

Anything in the S&T forum, Or discussions about TACTICAL...I tend to say what I think, and get an infraction for it...

I avoid the threads about "What gun should I get for my wife-daughter-mother-girlfriend-etc."

Also "What's the best load for my (insert caliber)?" and the variations on it.

I avoid the threads about "What caliber/load/bullet has the most knockdown power?"

Revolver vrs. Auto...
Conceal vrs. open...
Most already mentioned..

And...

Carry to with a round in the chamber or not to carry with a round in the chamber....:banghead:

AR v. anything
Glock v. anything
guess what I saw in Wal-Mart

last but not least the dreaded "IF YOU COULD ONLY HAVE XX GUNS" threads we see daily.

Threads that complain about gun shows or persons encountered at the gun range. Also complaint threads concerning how horrible the LGS is.

Anything about religion or politics. My religion is mine, and so are my politics. Yours are yours. People forget that that's ok.

Doesn't seem to be an issue on this forum, but the guy behind the counter needs to sell guns, not degrade other peoples beliefs.

I refuse to engage in most threads all together. Not saying I won't read them, but I won't post in them. Nothing against the topic, or the people who post in it, quite the opposite, actually. I love reading many of the threads that are made on THR, but I don't post when I feel I have nothing new to contribute, which, considering some of the brilliant firearms minds on the board, is most of the time.

In terms of it relating to where I am when it comes to firearms, I just feel it means I'm a newbie trying to learn everything I can. I am miles ahead of most of the people I know in real life in terms of firearms knowledge, but light-years behind most of the people on this forum.

For me, it's less what I won't contribute in, and more of what I will. I will contribute to a thread when I feel I can make a positive contribution to it. For example- I own a Stevens 320, and given the newness of the gun and the relative rarity of that model amongst forum members, I can contribute to the threads in which the gun comes up. So if I see a thread in which it comes up, I may participate in it.

For me, I guess it means less is more. I prefer posting little but with as much as I can contribute as I can, than posting a lot and contributing little. Once again, not bashing anyone on the forums, just saying that I can't contribute much at this point.

If you could only have...
Help me build a fantasy...
Public opinion of/incident, reaction to...
Taurus... (because of the vehement reactions to)
Wolf... (see above)
Where can I get a ??? cheap... (I hold my breath for the possible following.... "has lost a customer forever...")
Has lost a customer forever...
What's better, an apple or an orange...
Threads that end up in domination by folk who believe because they have neither seen nor heard of an items existence, an experience or a point of view that their perspective is the only one repeated over and over and over... Think - "that factory NEVER did that..." Having been there, I know never is as likely as; always, all, none, every and the like in being overused.

Oh yeah, and Glock threads. Not saying anything one way or ta-other. That's just not my bag Baby, Yeah!

Thought of another one. Any thread where we're crucifying Ruger for what Bill Ruger did and/or said 20 years ago. I am out of that crud for good. The man is dead.

After reading this thread....I get a hankering to ask, "What gun do you people really think is best?" If you answer that, I will ask, "How long is a rope?:neener:
