My wife is considering the flashbang holster for a 642 airweight i just got for her. Any ladys out there got a coment on good or bad for this holster?. I will probably get het a betty also. She will carry in her purse some but not to offen. She has never liked not having her gun on her person so a holster has always made her more comfortable. Thanks in advance for any help.

A holster is something you won't know how well it works for you until you give it a try. That's why many who carry end up with a drawer full of different types of holsters

yea we have seen all those sites...she is just concerned about "sweating" and the fact that it tucks so far under the bra if it is as comfortable as they make it sound. All those sites and videos are selling them so they will always say the best about there product. But thank you all.

Like moonshine...

There are many gimmic accessories on the market that look good on the model and sound cool in theory. They are made to sell, not to use ones self.

The IWB Betty style is practical but Kydex or other hard synthetic material is best relegated to OWB. Leather will be more comfortable worn next to the body. Sweatguards are a good feature. If a holster is not comfortable it migrates to the bone yard rather quickly.

Horsehide is dense and more moisture resistant than cowhide but also more expensive.

I see by your choice of handgun that quality is important to you, so -

Take a look at FIST's #1,http://www.fist-inc.com as well as their other IWB styles. FIST quality is superb, many options available.

Also see High Noon's Public Secret, and their variations on that theme. http://www.highnoonholsters.comThey have a sterling reputation.

Thank you..last night while brosing the net we found N8 2 and those really look nice. Like the idea of having gun fully covered for hot summer days but more so for cold rides on the snowmobile in the winter..but still looking so thank you all for sugestions. One important factor is holster must not be restricted to belt only. 90% of what she wears is dress slacks and skirts. So we are also looking at thigh holsters also.

I have had the Flashbang recommended to me, but it's not on my list. I don't want even a lightweight gun pulling on my bra straps. It would take a lot of practicing to learn to draw without fumbling (although that's true of most). I think my bellyband is more convenient under many different types of clothing. The Remora is another one that's worth a try and is very versatile with dress pants (although nothing too lightweight like linen or tropical wool, unless with a good belt).

I'm considering a shoulder rig myself although since we are not allowed to carry at work, it would not have to coordinate with my business wardrobe.

Post up what holster(s) you end up with, and what she thinks of them.

Well, seeing how a poorly made underwire bra can leave a nasty bruise if worn all day I can only imagine what a 642 in a kydex holster will do... Just a thought - why don't you drop an e-mail to some of the well-known custom holster makers asking them about their opinion? You can include your wife's measurements and a brief explanation of her preferred dress style.
