I'll go even further and say this is the best written article I've ever read on this subject, and I've read a lot of them from both sides. This should be required reading for everyone in the media, especially Bill O'Reilly.

Exceptionally well done.

I'm going to say that there were a few points where I had to stop and think what specific anti argument you were debating against, but overall very well written, especially the portion on news reporters.

ETA: Just finished it. "The media should have a 5-day waiting period before publishing an article where the government fact-checks for them"...brilliant!
How about the opposite as well? Politicians should have a 5-day waiting period before giving a speech, where an independent fact-checker ensures there are no lies or BS in their speech?

You lost my attention at this statement:

I suspect there aren't any handgun dealers actually in Cook County.

Illinois Gun Works, Maxon's, Cabela's, Shore Galleries, Midwest Guns, Chuck's Gun Shop, Freddie Bear Sports, Plechers Shooting Supplies, Surburban Sporting Supply, Union Arms Co. & Sporting Arms Supply. Not to mention those just outside of Cook County, like, Gander Mt., Bass Pro, G.A.T.s Guns, Lyons Guns another Bas Pro and another Gander Mt. and about 20 other small gun shops.

You need to check your facts BEFORE publishing.

Hand guns, long guns, shot guns and black rifles, I have purchased many from them.

Not within the City limits. Shore Galleries is just accross the street from Chicago and most of the others are within 10 miles of the city limits. With the traffic in Chicago that could take a half hour to get to them. Some of them are retail stores only, some with shooting ranges. Oh yes I forgot Dick's they have one in Cook County (Woodfield Shopping Mall) and two outside of Cook county, they sell rifles and shotgun's only.

Illinois is weard, it is easy to obtain firearms as long as you are over 18 for rifles and 21 for hand guns, have a FOID card and the cash.
Waiting period in Illinois is 24 hrs for rifles/shootguns and 72 hrs for handguns. Cook County has a restriction on magazines (10 rounds max) but that too is strange since I purchased my last AR (OCT 2011) from Cabela's in Cook County (Hoffman Estates Store) and it came with two 30 round mags. And a CZ 75 P-01 (14 round mags) in Jan 2012.

Thanks. I will correct my error of geography.

I know Chicago prohibits pretty much all martial arts weapons and even pocket knives by statute, but you can find full page ads for both in the Yellow Pages.
