Has anyone here had any experience with Rhineland barrels? I have limited experience but want to start a small project. I hope to replace the worn barrel on a Spandau 8mm model 98 Mauser. The initial inspection of the barrel in the gun shop showed fair to poor rifling and some surface rust. If I do make the change I am curious about the types of replacement barrels available. I have seen the barrels available through Midway USA, and the easy on easy off Bergara barrel video on YOUTUBE. The great differences in price, with some requiring reaming some not, have me a little confused. Will probably change to 308, but still gathering data. Any input, including the usual warning not to do it myself, will be appreciated. Thanks.

Is this what you are thinking about>??

If so, it looks they took the basic Savage system and adapted to a Mauser. You will need a set of go, no-go gauges, wrenches ect.... The only difficult thing would be removing your current barrel, for that you will need a barrel vise and a action wrench.

As for the quality of the barrel I have no idea.

He seems to be delivering orders now, but be aware he scammed quite a few people several years ago & still hasn't made good on delivering their orders or a refund

Yes, I was interested in the barrels from troupsystems, but not now. I appreciate the warning that the vendor is not reliable. I was going to use go/no-go gauges whichever barrel I chose. So now it is down to Begara or Midwayusa for my barrel source. Thanks for the responses gentlemen.

I got scammed by Rhineland arms and so did my brother in law. they made some seriously shoddy guns years back.
