Best handgun you ever fired?

Enjoy, rather than have the envy to try?
Enjoyed mostly my Ruger GP100 in .357 mag, and any handload I had the nerve to try. The thing is one of the few I would use the word "awesome" with.

For me it's my 7.45 LDA Para Ordnance. I don't shoot it often but when I do I have absolute confidence in it.
I like it so much that I have two 22/45's as understudies. Still, nothing really compares to that Para.

I'm gonna go with my SR1911. That being said, there are a lot of guns on my list that I've yet to try.

In a revolver I would have to say my Ruger Vaquero in .45LC. Very accurate shooting offhand at 20 yards with both factory ammo and handloads, there is just something so intrinsically enjoyable about shooting a single action revolver.

For the semi-auto it's a close call but I would have to give the nod to my Colt Combat Commander from Colts Custom Shop. This gun can keep up with a Gold Cup any day of the week while still being able to reliably feed any kind of .45 ammo I can load up in the mag. My runner-up gun is my Browning Hi-Power Mk.II which has the best out-of-the-box trigger on it than any other Hi-Power I have ever tried. Even with fixed sights it is incredibly accurate for a service grade pistol.

Best?

1939 Registered Magnum, 50 shots of hot 2400 reloads at 15 yrds offhand. This gun is the 1939 Camp Perry championship prize gun speced out by a Detroit PD officer who won it. I never tire of shooting it.

"Best" will mean different things to different people...

Lucky for me, i was smart enough to keep my "best" and unload the "others"!

So, i still have my OLD S&W M-29 44 Magnum that put a lot of meat in my freezer for me! I still have my amazing origional S&W 357 Magnum! and i still have my OLD S&W M-19 that i've carried for years and years!

A couple other "best" that i have are my OLD High Standard Victor that i won match after match with! And my OLD Colt Woodsman that i've carried trapping and my OLD S&W M-18 that also put a ton of meat in my freezer!

I just don't have a need to keep any second best!

Peter, that registered magnum is just breathtaking.

Hands down, the best handgun I've ever shot was a friends S&W pre-war third model .44 Handejector target revolver.

The best handgun that I have shot that I own is my Python.

Best to me is a mixture of how it feels in the hand unfired and fired. The other key part is reliability. I think pistol accuracy is overrated as most will shoot better than you are capable of.

My vote based on the criteria above were a Sig 220 cosely followed by a 226. For me, it just doesn't feel any better. Don't get me wrong, I can live quite contently with others as well.

My S&W 500 Magnum is the best I have ever fired. The 8" barrel and overall heft of the revolver is unlike anything I've ever experienced. The feel and sound of the gun being cocked is deep and rich (I'm struggling to find the right words). The accuracy is amazing. I can hit my 8" gong at 100 yards with ease. With heavy hunting style loads it unleashes a blast that can be seen, heard, and felt from a considerable distance.

I love it

Compensated 1911's, shot a pair of them at a match. Won it rather handily without half trying, even with 230 gr cast bullets at 1000 fps, also borrowed
Wow, that's impressive. Looking at your posts over the last couple weeks I realize we are fortunate to have access to your knowledge and skill.

I'm glad that someone put up the official police. When it comes to feeling perfect in my hand, that is the best for me. It is accurate and marked New York State police. I picked it up at a show and will never part with it.

I may not have fired as many guns as you guys have, but so far, my favorite is a S&W model 25 (-9 if anyone cares) with a 6 inch barrel. It's in my favorite round (45 colt) and the trigger pulls (both DA and SA) are spectacular. White outlined rear sight with an orange front sight make this gun deadly accurate. I just want more old S&W's now.

I am very blessed and am proud to possess some truly great guns

Who are you quoting/talking to? I kinda tried to find it but didn't really find it.
If you quote someone, it comes in handy to attribute that quote to the author.
