Good source for SP101 grips?

ive got a set of the Rosewood badger boot grips on my SP101....absolutely love them!

Hogue=comfortable magnum shooting. All of my Ruger magnums wear Hogue.
(for ME, your mileage may vary, etc,etc, etc.)

The rubber Hogue grips feel great on my SP101.

I also like the rubber Pachmayr grips (preference) but the Pachmayr medallions had to go. The Ruger medallions are the same diameter so I did a transplant. Remove the Pach's and put some Ruger ones in place with silicone adhesive.

The Pachmayr ones are heavier than the factory and Hogue grips.




I also like the factory grips but do not like the original inserts...replacement ones work.





I've tried Badger, Eagle, and Uncle Mike's (discontinued) but do not like the way they feel or position the gun in my hand.

Try a set of Hogue Mono-Grips, they've helped me with my SP 101 ! I got the wood grips, completely cover the metal housing.

I have CT Lasergrips on my 3" SP101 and I like the way that they feel secure in my hand when shooting. All of my fingers fit on the grip. Then there is the obvious advantage of the laser.

Hogue has black nylon grips for the sp101 for $20. I'm extremely happy with them. Much more comfortable to shoot full power 357 loads and doesn't catch easily on clothing. Really just a much cheaper and less pretty but as effective version of wood grips.

Are the nylon grips bigger or smaller than the factory grips? Do you find them more sticky than the factory grips? I know this is subjective but did it change the recoil impulse?

There's really not much wrong with the original grips. They're just ugly as hell.

I picked up a set of quilted maple inserts from Chig's Grips for mine and they're gorgeous.

If you don't see what you like, (which is unlikely) drop him a line and I'll bet they magically appear.

HUGE fan of Hogue's Monogrip.
Buy it in any gun shop, or online. Should be about $20.

Agreed. I think those Traush grips would be great for a service revolver or a range gun, but for CCW I think I like the Badger Boot Grips.

Boy I bet those are really comfortable and functional, but my god!!!! Hideous!!!

I started a similar thread just recently, looking for some nice but economical wood grips for my 3" SP101. I found a company out of Thailand that advertises on e-bay selling some VERY nice looking wood grips,but couldn't find anyone here that could vouch for them. Here's an example...

Soon after purchasing my SP101, I put the hogue,rubber monogrip on them, and they are admitedly very functional,but I still kinda hate 'em (almost enough to put the too-small originals back on......almost.)
I also purchased a set of Hogue pau ferro grips from Amazon for a GP100, and really love them ( though I'm absolutely positive these aren't pau ferro, they're coco bolo, but I ain't complaining, they look like a million bucks.)

I liked the factory grip, but with hard recoiling rounds, it would give me blisters on the thumb-side of the web of my hand. The Hogue is much more comfortable in that regard, but is still a little grabby, and it kind of kills the concealability of the gun. Enter the Pachmayr Compac. It is like the factory grip perfected. Just enough to hold onto without leaving my pinky hanging or sticking too far out like the Hogue. Fills the hand a little better than the factory grip. Has a much less grabby texture than either the Hogue or factory grip. I wish I'd gone to it earlier!

The Trausch looks super comfortable for range use, but it looks like it's the size of a GP100 grip. Kind of defeats the purpose of having a compact revolver in my mind.

I have more than a few different grips for the SP101.

But the Badgers are the nicest and shoot very well.

I too got the 'boot' grip.

Hogues feel like a dead snake, and look like a firm turd that has been gripped tightly.
I put Hogues on my Redhawk and took them back off, immediately after shooting it.
The factory wood grips went right back on, and have been back on there for the past 12 years.

+another enthusiastic for the Hogue rubber ones. Shoot or just look good? Shoot?=Hogue.
