Whats the biggest pistol or revolver you've ever seen?

one day at the range the guy next to me had a .50 cal Desert Eagle, and he also had a single shot pistol that shot some sort of rifle round, forgot what it was exactly, but it was mean.

Century .45-70 revolver for me too.
I saw a few on a table at the NRA Convention in Orlando in 1988.
Big and impressive guns.

I've shot a Magnum Research BFR .45-70 revolver and prefer it for looks.
I think its smaller than the Century guns were.

I have seen and fired those 45-70 revolvers! FUN! The other big ones I have seen were British 577 and 476 Eley revolvers. The biggest revolver I own is a 455 Webley.

I saw a BFR in 500 S&W the other day, looked like it needed a pintle and a mount.....

The BFR is the biggest I've laid hands on, but with cowboy loads it's a lot of fun to fire and surprisingly accurate. I know it's thought of as a fun gun, but it would make a good hunting handgun as well.

What do you mean by big ?

Physically I guess the 500 S&W. I also have a repo Walker Colt that weighs something like 4 1/2 pounds.

Biggest bore ? 1/2 inch. No, I believe I saw a single shot black powder pistol in .69 caliber once.

Hottest chambering ? I don't really know. I have shot a number of single shot pistols chambered for full bore rifle rounds. .30-06, .444 Marlin, .45/70............

I've seen two different guys on separate ocassions shooting Desert Eagles in .50AE, but neither one of'em could hit anything with it (don't know that I could, either). I'll laugh at one of the guys, since each time he fired and missed, he just exclaimed "I got me a big gun!" The other guy at least was disappointed in himself for not shooting well.

Biggest I've shot is a .454 Casull revolver of some kind 50 Shooter let me try. It was powerful but not unmanagable and I killed the soda can I was shooting with it ;) .

I think I've been pretty lucky with my shooting experiences since I have only been shooting for about six months and when I first started, had no idea that I'd have experience with so many different firearms. :D

The biggest I've seen at the range: A standard .44 magnum. Nothing special until the dude started using his own reloads, which were just a tad hot. It was loud.

I've "seen" a S&W 500 in a case, but never picked one up or fired one. Too expensive! :uhoh:

In a case, the S&W 500 :what: .

That I've actually held/shot, my full sized HK USP .45. It fits my hand like a glove which is the reason that it resides on my hip most days ;) .

Seen Many Cannon

But the biggest I ever fired was a Desert Eagle in .50 AE. Even with gas system, and heavier-than-a-mattock weight, recoil lifted it above my head. it better be a one-shot stop, cuz it'll take a long time to aim again. Fun, but way too much gun.

Saw a blackpowder single-shot in some outrageous caliber like .69, and have hefted but not fired the Magnum Research BFR in either .454 Casull or .45-70, don't remeber which. Much more weapon than I would ever own and operate, unless I was taking it as an Alaskan/African safari backup "last act of defiance" revolver.

Biggest I've shot? .50 AE Desert Eagle, .44 Mag in a 8 7/8" scoped Model 29, and a .44 Desert Eagle.

Biggest I've handled? .500 S&W, .45-70 BFR. In blackpowder, the LeMat .44 (9 shots and a 20ga buckshot tube under the barrel, BIG gun).

I was able to shoot a BFR revolver in 45-70. It was surprisingly tame and easy to handle one-handed.

Also saw a Contender in 30-06. That was pretty stout.

I believe I once saw a big revolver with either a 10" or a 14" barrel. They still make 10" Desert Eagles, and used to make 14" ones. (If it's 4lbs with a 6" barrel, what does it weigh with a 14" barrel??)

I'm willing to bet, though, that this big creature takes the cake for largest, heaviest, production handgun you'll likely to find in the US.

It's so big it has a sling! Empty weight is 82 ounces. That's just over five pounds!

This is my handcannon. I saw it sitting there in the used shelf of the store, and well, it was just too cool not to buy. When I was registering it with the police, the officer looks at it and says "Jesus, what is that handcannon?"

.308 Winchester, single shot, I've fired it about 27 times in one day at the max. It's a blast to one-hand it, too.
