Is this worth joining?

I'm not going into a NRA vs GOA style debate.

Just want to know if they're legit/active/promoting 2nd amendment rights.

Yes, they are the best thing we have going for local issues. The GOA wasn't useful on the CHL process in TX.

Is this worth joining?
Absolutely.

If the other states had and supported the equivalent of the TSRA we gun owners would be way ahead in the battle to protect our 2nd Amendment rights.

Yes, join. Life member since 1975. TSRA is also a good organization because it satisfies the CMP requirement for membership in a marksmanship related organization.

Alice Tripp knows her way around the capitol and is a very effective lobbyist.

I'm a life member and recommend them. Good organization.

+ 1 more

TSRA was a major player in getting "Shall Issue" CHL law passed here, and they
continue the fight to mainstream RTKBA laws in Texas. They were instrumental in getting the law passed to allow non-licensed citizens to be allowed to carry a concealed handgun in their vehicle. They helped get the "Castle Doctrine" laws passed here.

In short, if you are an NRA member in Texas, you need to take the next step and join the TSRA. In my humble opinion......:D

Yes by all means please join and support the TSRA ! We have been members for years. They are a great advocate for gun rights and CCW.

I'm not a hunter so I pay no attention to the hunting side but I think the TSRA fights for all our gun rights.

With every new shooter I teach to shoot I suggest they join the TSRA and I don't take lightly suggesting people join organizations.

I first joined to meet the requirements to purchase a rifle from the CMP.

I have since renewed my membership every three years or so.

Good Group.

I'm thinking of doing the conditional life membership 40/down the rest paid over two years...and I was wondering what are some of the benefits you get from joining.

You can also opt-in to their email list and they send weekly bulletins with relevant news, legislation and court cases. This can help you know what is coming up so you stay within the law and can contact your officials in support of or opposition to new laws. They also rate people running for the state offices on their stance and history of support for 2nd amendment issues which can help you when deciding which person you want to elect.
