Currently, Academy, Dicks, and Walmart are selling Remington 700 ADL's.

I'm not talkin' SPS's here...these are ADL's. Blind magazine. Sez "ADL" on the Rem. factory carton.

Today I looked at one of 'em in 30-06 at Walmart. Black synthetic stock, cheap scope, matte black steel. $417 + tax

It did NOT have the externally adjustable trigger that's found on most current 700's. I think the trigger I am referring to is called "X-Mark Pro"......

I'm wondering if the ADL's sold by either Academy or Dicks has this externally adjustable trigger?

Anyone done a "touchy-feely" on the ADL's at Academy or Dicks?

Thanks, folks.......

I believe the older X-mark trigger has the internal adjustment and the newer X-mark Pro has the external adjustment. I've heard of ADLs being sold with both triggers. Dicks is selling a stainless ADL as an "exclusive" offer so maybe they had Remington do a run with the older version of the trigger to shave a few bucks off the production cost. I won't make that a deciding factor one way or the other since you can still adjust the older version with a little more effort.

MAKster..........Tnx for response.......

I did look at the stainless ADL's sold by Dicks....... the particular one I looked at did NOT have the externally adjustable trigger.

Ya know.......I think if I could find a new ADL in 30-06 with the externally adjusted trigger, I just might buy it!

I wonder if Gander Mtn. or Sportsman's Warehouse sells new ADL's...??

I own a newer ADL S/S (dicks) it does not have an adjustable trigger but the trigger is not awefull but not as good as the adj ones. You can pay a smith a few bucks to lighten it.

The ADLs in Academy (I used t work there) and I assume the other stores are the same end of production ADLs that have been floating around in the wearhouses since Remington switched to SPS as the base model, and have the original X-Mark triggers not the externally adjustable X-Mark Pro.

as a side note these rifles are not new (current) production. They're "New" in that they've never been fired (beyound factory testing) nor previously owned. But any "New" ADL you see o the shelf has floating around in the distribution system of whichever Big Box sporting good store you're in for, what's it been, 4 years almost?

they're good rifles, but be aware that if or when the sales guy unboxes "Your rifle" it's likely to show signs of having been in storage since G.W. Bush was in office. the Oil and other preservatives/lubes on and in it will have dried out and become gummy, and there will likely be a few places (around the filler screws in the receiver top) where you'll find spots of white crusty stuff (never did figure that out..). basicly any NIB ADL found today needs a major scub down and lube job.

I don't think that is true. Just because the ADLs are not listed on the Remington website doesn't mean that are not still being made. Remington doesn't promote them because they are low profit models produced just for the chains stores. Far too many ADLs are being sold at Dicks, Gander, Walmart to be 4 year old leftovers. This hunting season Dicks is selling a stainless ADL and a varmint barrel model with Mossy Oak stock. Last hunting season they were selling an exclusive model with OD stock. How could they be introducing these new versions every year if they are just old leftovers?

Ok I admit I can only conclusively speak of the ADLs sold by academy between Aug of 2010 and June of this year, and only those found west of the Mississippi river. and I freely admit that I did make an assumption based on what i saw during that time

Those rifles, all of which were standard sporters with the crappy black stock, entered Academy's Katy TX Dist. center prior to Feb '09 (the last PO arrival date listed in the inventory system when i last checked) and that Purchase Order was HUGE btw.
whether Remington has since been building ADLs for whatever reason, and not cataloging them i don't know.

I'm not doubting you just mentioning it, unless the stocks are a newly released (post '08) M.O. pattern, none of the models you describe is one unknown prior to the offical end of the ADL. Dick's has had OD stocked ADLs and SPSes for alot longer than just back to '08.

as for how long gun stay "in-system", while in my time with academy we had a few show up with paperwork or shipping labels that were 5 and 6 years old. the firearms areas in the various DCs for the major chains are for lack of a better term, cavernous in size. and items can get shuffled out of sight just as bad in a major wearhouse as they can in a suburban garage.

On a store level we had a 700BDL-Deluxe in .243 that was put on display around march of '07 and was still there when i stopped by to buy ammo today

The ADLs that are on sale at your big box stores are not old stock, Remington makes them exclusivly for those stores, If you check the codes on the side of the barrel you will see they were built this year. Was able to do a tour this past spring of the Remington plant and saw many ADLs in the racks waiting to be inspected and packaged.
