Let me make this short and sweet as possible. In 1988 I bought a brand new P226. Had it until about 2005 when I sold it for needed cash, regretted it the whole time. Yesterday the very same Sig came back to me. In the box with all the original papers. Very excited to have it back home. It went through a couple people but I tracked it down and ask could I please buy it back.

Great story...my first SiG was a P226 bought new in 1988...I also picked up one as I too missed mine (I found mine but it has been converted to a sims gun...the horror)...I bought a 1999 stainless slide model but happy you were able to find yours and get it back.

Sounds like someone is Happy and Lucky.

Most "regret" stories don't end this happy. Congrats.

very Happy about it, there are a couple more I would like back but not very likely, of coarse I was not sure I would see this one again either

So any details on how you came to reaquire your SIG after being separated from it for seven years? Enquiring minds would really like to know how you accomplished this.

I knew who I sold it to and kept his phone number. Made the call and he had traded it to someone else and he had their name and location. I just really decided I wanted that gun back and was going to do what I could to get it.
I offered cash and that didn't fly so I found out he was into stocking up on ammo. So cash and ammo it was.

I sold off couple of Sigs before I ended up with one I really like- Sig Sauer P 226 Elite .

Sounds a lot like how I got my customized Colt Combat Commander back from a friend of mine. Years ago I needed some extra cash as I was moving out of state. Instead of selling a lot of my less expensive guns, I decided to sell a couple of my high end guns to maximize my financial gain and minimize the impact on my gun collection. I knew that my friend really like this particular Colt and so I sold it to him.

Some years later I moved back to the area and called my friend to see if he still had the gun. He did but he really wasn't interested in selling it. But this changed when I showed him the new Colt Officers Model that I had just bought. So after a little trade talk, with me throwing in an old Walther P-38 in the deal, the trade was made and I got my Colt back.

Interestingly enough I also bought a Sig 226 in 1988 (it must have been a good year). I sold it to a friend in 2005 to fund another gun. I bought it back from him this year. It will now stay with me permanently. Small world, great firearm.

I've probably got somebody's P220 that they wish they hadn't ditched. It needed a new recoil spring and magazines.

It came with the original case, manual, and all that jazz.

must have been a great year, and a good year to get back your P226.
Sounds like you are as happy as I am

I bought my P226 in 1989. It was made in 1988, however.

I still have it!

One of the few things I have done right over the years.
