Hey all, I'm looking at the Ruger 22/45's since my Fiance has commandeered my SR22P.

What I wanna know is if it can eat anything like my 10/22 does.

I consider Federal bulk and Remington Thunderbolt to be the lowest of the low when it comes to rimfire.

Also considering a GSG 1911, how well does it handle crappy ammo?

THANKS!

I don't buy ANY Remington rimfire ammo. It is horrible. My 10/22 runs great on Walmart Federal 550 bulk, Federal Automatch, and Winchester 555.

Federal bulk is my ammo of choice for fast plinking/steel plate shooting through my 22/45. About 3000 rounds now with no issues. It also runs fine on RGB and everything else I've tried.

my savage 22 rifle had a hard time with the winchester bulk that comes in the 333 round box. I blasted them in my 22/45 to get rid of them. Mine eats everything.

+1 to the federal bulk by the way. It is now the only bulk 22 i will buy.

I have 5 MK pistols that will feed anything. I shoot nothing but bulk thr them...yeah, I got a bad box of Thunderbolts once, but have also shot alot of it trouble free.

I don't agree with Federal bulk being the lowest of the low. I would guess I have shot 8 k this year and don't recall a single misfire.

My 22/45 functions fine with anything that fires when the firing pin strikes it. Even Golden Bullets work well when they fire. Too bad so many of them don't...

Mine works well with Remington (if they fire), Winchester bulk, Federal bulk, and CCI mini-mag. I don't remember trying anything else in it.

I had a mk3 when they first came out. It would only feed Thunderbolts, no HP. Sold it and got an older mk2 that ate everything.

Sold that and got a Kadet.:p

So far I've only ran Bulk packs of federal Champion, CCI Blazer, and CCI SV in two 22/45s but the round count for those is approaching 4k total. Haven't tried anything else yet because I haven' found the need.

Federal (Walmart) 550 bulk pack - good
Winchester 333 or 555 - good, more accurate but a few mis-feeds
(Unplated Winchester not good)
Rem - barely OK

I shoot CCI Blazer & Stingers, Fed bulk and Auto Match through mine with nary a hiccup. Keep the pistol lubed and it will shoot.

YMMV

My Mk.II 22/45 shoots everything. I do not remember any brand giving a problem.

Remington rimfire ammo is junk, but as long as it's capable of going off, my 22/45 will shoot it.

This. My 22/45 will shoot anything. And I literally haven't cleaned it in years. By this point, I'm purposely not cleaning it, just to see how far it will go.

My MKIII will shoot any thing but I will not shoot Rem ammo. They seam to lead a barrel. If you have feeding issues it's normally points to the mag and ramp angle. The 22/45 has a steep ramp angle. There is a simple mod to make the bullet release from the mag earlier to correct this problem if the mag heigth is correct. Then on some all you need to do is have the first bullet pointing up when you feed the first bullet.

On a new gun, Ruger will make it right if any thing is wrong.

I like Federal bulk in the 525 pack
I have Remington plated ammo about 35 years old---it shoots real good.
CCI never misses but not in my budget anymore.
