Answers to some Questions!

Hi guys! I am one of the principals of the Second Amendment Firearms Experience (S.A.F.E.) in Colorado and just wanted to express my sincere appreciation for your enthusiasm over our project and answer a few questions that I saw posted here. First, we will not require you to purchase ammo from us. You can either bring your own or purchase from our Pro Shop at substantial discounts, your choice! We all have our favorite ammo suppliers (or reload) so continue whatever you like best but hopefully you find our prices very competitive if you choose to honor us with your business.

With respect to initiation fees, we will be allowing up to a one year grace period for you to suspend and then resume your membership with no new initiation fee so if you need to stop your membership temporarily, you will be absolutely welcome to do that with no penalty whatsoever to you.

Finally, we are 100% funded (after a multi-year, enormous effort with every financing obstacle imaginable in our way in this economy) so we won't be asking for membership deposits until after we are well under construction during late winter/early spring and even then it will be a small deposit to just hold your spot until we open. The deposit will also be placed into an escrow account and not touched so our customers have nothing at all at risk.

S.A.F.E.'s mission is to be one of the best tactical training facilities in the U.S. located in one of most beautiful, and convenient, places in the country. It is an incredibly ambitious and expensive undertaking and has taken us years (and a lot of money in legal fees, etc.) to get to this point. Colorado's Front Range has lost almost half of its shooting ranges in the past 15 years because of massive regulatory hurdles, anti-gun communities and very expensive land so we really are bucking a trend here and are very appreciative for the overwhelming firearms community support and unbelievable number of membership requests we have seen to date that have far exceeded our expectations. We have located right in the heart of the Front Range, less than 30 minutes from Denver and from the airport.

We understand that the pricing structure will not be for everyone but hopefully you can appreciate that 900 acres of land in Colorado's Front Range is enormously expensive as is our 65,000+ ft. covered structure for year round shooting as well as the incredible amenities including 2 shoot-houses, a video simulator with 700+ scenarios and tactical ranges with automated moving targets. We are offering a law enforcement training experience (and even better!) to the general public.

Our memberships start at roughly $24/month ($15.83/month for Law Enforcement/Military) for a weekday non-tactical range membership for those looking for more of a range, rather than training, experience and go up from there depending on your need/desire for more advanced training and shooting opportunities. For what you are getting, we think it's an absolutely tremendous value.

Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and we sincerely appreciate the great questions and enormous support we've received. Without your support and that of the entire firearms community, a project like this wouldn't be possible.

Thanks for your clarifications Ron! I am looking forward to the summer!

Ron,

Thanks for joining the discussion. While I mentioned price in my post, I do realize that there is a substantial cost to what you are doing, and your prices are actually pretty competitive when compared with some other facilities that have simple indoor ranges.

Didn't mean to knock you guys on the basis of price... I simply miss the days when you could go nearly anywhere and shoot without problems. As you mentioned, we've lost the majority of our formal/informal public shooting venues here in the Front Range in the past 15 years or so (I'd say that we've literally lost dozens of spots that I know of).

The fact you will bring in airplanes/cars to shoot from is a major selling point. Plus, you will also have outdoor shooting which is cool. I do have one question though: will hunters be allowed on the property during deer season, I think that would be cool.. Thanks

Seems a bit expensive to me. I would wait until it opens and pay them a visit, and maybe shoot a bit.

Unfortunately, we won't be able to allow hunters on the property during deer season. With all the range activities we will have going on as well as the fact that the ranch will continue to be an active cattle grazing area it would just set up too many potential safety issues. That said, I think you'll find all of the active shooting opportunities we will feature, including lots of steel reactive targets, moving targeting systems, etc. some of the best, most fun, rewarding and fulfilling shooting and training you've ever done! Plus, after we open, we will begin planning our next phase of shooting activities including a mock tactical training town!

A town?! do you mean you will set up buildings? is this inside or outside. Sounds awesome either way
The town will be a 'movie set' facade made of wood and will be set outside. With almost 900 acres, we have plenty of opportunities for outstanding training like this. More details later for sure but once we get it operational, it's going to be a fantastic tactical, decisional and marksmanship training opportunity!

I'd like to see a range that has individually bermed lanes so that one can practice more complex things like moving and shooting, multiple targets, etc without having to worry about others. Just your own lane with backstops and protection on all sides except the entrance so you can be free to do more advanced stuff. It's hard (at least around me) to find a range where you can actually move and shoot. The closest place to me is just some public land about 2 hours away, and even then I have to stop the moment another person shows up.

I don't know what is common pricing around Denver. But in my area, the pricing is even a little high for indoor ranges. Outdoor ranges are much less expensive in my area.

I do know it costs a lot to get started and they're taking a huge financial risk. So, if I lived in the area and the new range made it worth my while to join prior to the range being completed, I would consider it. But I would probably wait until the range was completed prior to joining even if there was a good incentive to "join now".

The kicker is that you see commercial enterprises start construction and then go bankrupt prior to even getting up and running as they are financing the whole affair on a shoe string (generally available cash flow). There are no refunds. If such a refund was possible, you'd have to go to court and it simply isn't worth the effort even if you are in the right legally.

Sorry SecondAmendment, but I am a realist and I try to spend my money carefully. But based on the website info and this thread, the range sounds fantastic.

Dude, that is awesome.

other CO range E. or N.E. of Denver

I recall driving along US-85 or US-34 east or north-east of Denver, and stopping at a roadside public range. This was in 1990.

This was an extensive facility, with covered stations built for quite a ways along the highway. I remember there even was a machine gun range.
We stopped and were made to feel quite welcome.

Does anyone know the name of this range, and is it still in business?

Sounds interesting but unfortunately not like anything I've ever heard of!? Probably one of those sad "had to move for a 'developing' society" stories
