can anybody tell me if there are any diferances between a stevens 200 and a savage 11? A local guy has a stevens 200 package gun with a cheap scope in 270.Its is like new only had about 15 rounds through it and he wants 260$ I am kinda lookin for a project gun and i am assumeing that all savage parts like barrels, bolts, stocks, triggers, scope bases and stuff like that will fit a stevens action am i correct? this seems like a good deal what is this gun worth?

The Stevens line does not have the Accu-Trigger, IIRC. The fit and finish is a bit more utilitarian, as well. The stocks are different, but I do believe that they can be interchanged.

My understanding is the Stevens model 200 is the same as a Savage model 10 pre accutrigger. The bolt even has the Savage Indian head on it

Savage likes to change items on their rifles, so don't expect that all parts are be swappable.

thanks for all the replies.I figured the action alone was worth close to the asking price.what items do the like to they like to change?major stuff like barrel threads and bolt faces must stay common dont they?

Any Savage parts made at the same time as the Stevens will interchange. Savage has changed magazines and stocks recently. Even a 5-6 year old Savage will not interchange stocks with a new version. Scope mounts are not the same on some older guns. Same with a 5-6 year old Stevens. It has made purchasing scope mounts and any aftermarket parts confusing. You have to know exactly which version you have and when it was made when buying.

But other than the trigger and slightly different stocks the Stevens and Savage rifles are the same.

There was only one change in the way a scope mounts and which version you have is pretty obvious. The older rifles have a flat machined on the back half of the receiver, the newer rifles have a round rear. That change was made around 2001.

I know what you are talking about because i have a 116 and a 11 that are the older flat top action with stagered feed blind mag and no accuitrigger and a 16 that i bought a couple years ago that is round top center feed and has the accu-trigger.thanks for pointing that out i guess i knew that but forget that there is diferent spaceing on the action screws for the newer ones and different scope bases.

The Stevens 200 has an internal (also known as blind) magazine while the current Savage 11/111s have detachable magazines.
