I've been giving this a lot of thought lately, and I've decided to stop posting links to my videos on the discussion boards. I put one out on the Handgun-Autoloaders board this morning, and I think it will be my last.

I'm concerned that the community here sees posting videos as just trolling for views. Actually, I only get about 5% of my views from discussion boards. I post them here because I used to find the feedback helpful. I think it helped me make my videos better.

But I rarely get feedback anymore, and I think I may just be annoying members by posting the links.

Hopefully, those of you who do enjoy them are subscribers anyway.

I'm still going to read the board, and post comments. I love this board...I always learn something...just no video posting.

Well Mike, I appreciate the sensitivity and concern you show in considering this.

As the 'net culture continues to evolve what is "sharing" and "contributing" one year seems to become "spamming" or "drumming up hits" the next. Some folks have a way of sharing a video or other media that is really generous and appreciated (I've always found you to be strongly in that category) and some have a way of posting "teaser" links and "Click here for more!!!" type stuff that really does get under people's skin. I don't really know that a hard and fast "nettiquette" protocol has evolved yet.

But you've always been quite welcomed to post your videos and I'll be sorry to see them not appear here any more.

I would suggest you give yourself a link in your signature to remind folks where they can check out your latest stuff, at least. I don't want to miss it!

Mike,

I got to tell ya that your videos have certainly helped me make the right choice when it comes to black powder weapons and accessories. Keep up the good work. I'll be checking out your YouTube videos when you post new ones.

Thanks again for your time.

Tom

Love your vids, and hope that you will at least post a link to where we can find you on a regular basis....
I know you are on Youtube, but having the reminder with a link under your signature would help me to find you more often.

Keep up the great work! Your story about your 1858 shorty and how you got into writing for gun mags is a great one......and I love that revolver!

What ever you decide Mike I have appreciated the links to your videos.

Thanks!

If you decide to continue as before I will watch those as well.

Wheely: Mind sharing a link to that? I'd love to see it! I'm in need of a shorty 1858 myself!

Hey Mike, I always enjoy checking out your videos my friend! You always have a good balance of information and a bit of humor thrown in that makes it worthwhile to watch, keep it up please :)

Ahhh i wouldnt worry about it dude. I get the same thing with my videos on other places and some just dont want help or simply think their way is better.

Feedback? You actually want feedback? Geez, who knew?

I am always delighted to give an opinion if one is wanted. But there have been other folks who don't appreciate my opinion, whether constructive or otherwise, so I usually bite my tongue.

So keep posting away my friend. If you want responses, I promise one for every video!!

Mike, I hope you don't stop posting videos. I enjoy your videos very much.
I don't comment on the vast majority of videos I watch, because I don't usually have anything worth adding, and I don't normally have any questions left after watching.

Mike if we weren't interested in what you are doing, we probably wouldn't interested in this forum either. That is why we are here, to learn what we don't know and what others do know.

At least post a link to where your videos are, so we can continue to watch. I also usually don't comment because I either have nothing worth adding or my questions are answered.

Mike,

I am one of those who wish you would reconsider. I visit this forum everyday for the same reasons everyone else does. Sometimes the threads provide an array of advice on technical problems. Sometimes they are simply chatty exchanges of opinions and observations. Gun porn is always welcome. Duellist videos, in my opinion, are representative of the highest quality of material here. Because of the professional care that goes into your productions, the variety of guns you present, and the accuracy of your information, your videos always add value to the forum, so much so that perhaps they've been taken for granted.

Your videos also demonstrate a performance standard for BP shooting that has helped me, and I suspect others, raise our game; particularly in off-hand shooting. Many of us probably shoot "in a vacuum", in other words, we're probably not members of a shooting group where we get to see what other shooters are capable of with these arms and try to compete. Watching you shoot has certainly raised the bar for me when I go to the range.

I'm not sure I understand your reasons for not wanting to post your videos here any longer. If you plan to keep producing them, there are certainly a lot of fans on THR's Black powder board who get a lot of value from them and just never said anything. I don't think I ever did, until now.

I'd also like to see you reconsider. I really value your vids and the time and effort you put into them. I can always be assured of getting an honest test and opinion on the different guns. Hate to see you quit.

I also would like to urge you to reconsider. I have watched most of the videos you have posted but never commented because I didn't have anything to add. I am also interested in how the flinter turns out as I am pondering such an excursion myself.

Mike, thanks for the videos, I've always enjoyed them. Very entertaining & informative. I'll watch them on youtube if you keep posting. Thanks again

Well, if you do not feel comfortable posting links then I suppose I should not insist that you continue. I've watched several dozen of your videos and enjoyed each one - yours are definately a cut above the other videos available when I check out youtube for anything related to cap & ball or old west-type guns.

In fact, when gun owners with limited knowledge about black powder ask me questions, I find it quite easy to just email them a link or show them one of your videos on my smart phone. I figure you can explain things much more concisely than I usually do.

Guess I will take this opportunity to thank you for all the videos you've made and all the knowledge you share. It's actually long overdue. You come across as a person who enjoys guns and wants to share with others, where many others seem to make videos as self-promotion. I hope you continue to make your videos as long as you enjoy doing so.

I for one have always enjoyed your videos/ work. There have been several that I have watched more than once. Thanks for doing what you did for our education and entertainment.

Mike I think you should keep posting links for your videos. When I was just starting out in black powder I found one of your links on this forum. It was very helpful in me deciding to start shooting C and B revolvers.

So keep posting links for the new guys out there.

Got to say I love all the background you give when discussing firearms.
