Looking for an ACOG

so has "ACOG" become a proprietary eponym?

All ACOGs are made by Trijicon and they are all in the ball park of 850 and up. Worth every penny, but pricey.

If your lucky you might find one used for 500, i passed on one for 500 about 7 months ago. You don't find them often though.

Look through a 3.5X35 before you buy a 4X32... If you're buying a real ACOG, it's made by Trijicon.

If you are patient you can score a TA01NSN for $600 or a TA31F for $700. Those are the lowest prices I've seen on used ACOG that were serviceable. Gotta be patient though, otherwise $800 and up all day long on used ones. You get what you pay for when it comes to optics.

TA31-F or RCO. You will never look back. If you want it as a reflex sight, then TA-11 is also good, from what I hear, has longer eye relief, but less magnification and field of view. TA-31 (4x32) is probably the best for identifying targets, and has greatest magnification other than the 6x beast they sell.

For $400, you are not in an ACOG budget range. Maybe a low-end Eotech/Primary Arms 3x Magnifier for $500 or so. But no BDC for that...Look at a Nikon 223...

If your budget is $400-$500, you need to be looking at Aimpoints. The "never needs batteries" features of the ACOG is a great advertising point, but the smaller, lighter, less expensive Aimpoints can be left on full time and only need batteries every couple of years.

My personal favorite combo right now? Nikon P223 scope using railed rings, and a Burris Fastfire on top mounted to the ring.

Aimpoint isn't exactly an alternative to the ACOG as they are apples and oranges. They both do different things and have their pros and cons.

Cheapest I've seen an ACOG for sale that I can remember is around 650. The Vortex 1-4 is a really nice scope that's in your price range.

A used TA01NSN might be had for $500 on a lucky day, though Rubber_Duck's $600 estimate is probably a better bet.

Another option in the price range under discussion is the Burris TAC30, which seems to have pretty good reviews and can be had for $300 or a bit less plus rings or a mount.

Yes, to a certain extent. They're both still illuminated optical sights. Regardles, both are combat proven, durable, high quality optics.

i was looking at the burris xtr fast fire 2 combo, for a lil over 800 shipped. does anyone have this setup on their ar? is it worth the money?
