Do you think gun control laws should be made more or less strict than they are now?

More strict (52.7%)
Less strict (18.0%) <--- preferred answer :)
No change (26.6%)
Not sure (2.8%)

thanks!

Hit it.

Dontcha just love how they've split the pro-gun vote between two options-

Less strict

and

No change

If you add the 'less strict' and 'no change' percentages, it's...
  • 49.8% support new gun control
  • 47.7% oppose new gun control
That might make you feel slightly better about this poll.

Voted stay the same. Let the anti's think we didn't lose our minds completley.

If you guys have multiple browsers(firefox, internet explorer, safari) you can vote once for each browser. It looks like the poll relies on a temporary session cookie that expires after a few hours so even if you have one type of browser, wait a day and hit it again. :)

That's the problem here. By dividing up "Less strict" and "No change" they are splitting the vote. While you can add the two and say "these people want no more gun control", the option for More Gun Control is guaranteed to be the top option. It's a subtle manipulation tactic. It should be boolean - Do you want more gun control - Yes or no?

I agree. However, it is currently...
  • 48.5% support new gun control
  • 49.1% oppose new gun control
The support for stricter gun laws has fallen into the minority.

there's another way you can vote more than once.

Bring up your browser
Fire up multiple tab windows
in each tab bring up the website: http://www.khon2.com/default.aspx (dont vote right away)
once you have the voting page up in 5, 10, 20, 100 tabs, start voting for the less strict option in each tab.

:) (there's a reason why web polls are unscientific)

You can try this with other poll sites. The good (thorough) sites will have the proper code so you can't pull stuff like this.
