Finally: Word Leaks on Biden Group's Gun Control Plans

Here is some of the actual language being used:

Obama: "This is not something that I will be putting off..."

Measures the Biden group is working on:

-Assault Weapons Ban
-Magazine Capacity Limits
-Universal Background Checks for All Firearm Sales
-Track Firearm Movements through a National Database
-Strengthen Mental Health Checks
-Stiffen Penalties for Carrying Near Schools or Giving Guns to Minors
-Gathering Support from Retailers (Wal-Mart mentioned by name)

The group is also weighing actions which could circumvent the legislature:

-Federal-level Mental Health Programs
-'Mordernization' of BATF Gun-Tracking Procedures

They are interested in "action", not "ad-nauseum debates about the meaning of the 2nd Amendment" .

This is what the President's cabinet is working on. This is real, and it is going to be pushed in a way that we have not seen in many years. Do not count on the House of Representatives to save us from this. They might, but only if we make our voices heard. The White House is going to turn up the heat, and the weak-kneed are going to be tested very publicly through demagoguery and media pressure.

The political battle is here, folks. Those of you who have been dismissive thus far would do well to reconsider your attitude. We must fight for our rights, and now.

I'm just glad I don't have any guns I would need to register.
 
What a shock. Nothing about doing anything to the criminal element that is responsible for the vast majority of murders in this country, whether done with a firearm or not.

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

These are proposed changes, they ain't laws! Wanting and getting are two different things, last I knew!

I'm even seeing reactionary claims that no matter what the House does, that new rules in the Senate could over-ride any opposition to new laws. I'm guessing some people have a limited grasp of what the Constitution allows?

If you're considering these idiot's "wish list" as chiseled in stone before any debate takes place, I guess we're screwed already.
 
stickhauler: I realize that they are 'proposed' changes, but I believe we are underestimating the threat. They are thinking big, very big.

As much as anything, I am afraid that their 'go big' approach will lead to a 'compromise'... on their terms.

We should be taking this very seriously. This is not Diane Feinstein or Michael Bloomburg (though Bloomburg is being consulted, per the article). This is the Office of the President of The United States. His plan will become the party line. This what we are up against.

They are perfectly willing to push unconstitutional gun control measures. If it gets struck down later, they'll still be able to say that they 'did all they could'.

Don't count on the Constitution to save you. Don't count on the courts, either. By the time the challenges actually reach the courts, it may well be packed with Obama appointees.

This could well be our only opportunity to stop them.

  • "We need to compromise!"
Only an utter imbecile would think there's the SLIGHTEST chance for compromise with these curs.

They want it all.
 
We need to stop DeGette's magazine ban first and foremost.
If that fails, it's pretty clear that this one, so much larger in scope, would fall flat on it's face.
 
If this country still operated under the terms of the Constitution, I'd sleep like a baby tonight.

But it hasn't for a while now.

Even if he and Pelosi do get stopped in congress, they have expressly said in the release that they are exploring options to take by executive order, bypassing lawmaking altogether.
 
This "task force" has the balls to have ERIC HOLDER at the meeting?!?!

There is not a SINGLE REPUBLICAN on the board.

They want a fight and I hope they're given it. This is the biggest load of crap I've ever seen! :cuss:
 
So where are the loads and loads of people who kept trotting out the "They learned their lesson in 94. They wouldn't try it again" line of nonsense? A bit silent as of late it would seem.

Funny thing is, they never say what it is that the OTHER side gives up...

We've been infiltrated. Look at some of the threads going on here in GGD and you'd think it was us debating the Brady Bunch, not a THR only discussion.

I'm glad that I loaded up on high cap mags during the last ban and if they want to take them back; they can have them one bullet at a time. Did you know that they found the video that offenede islam on the shooter's computer??? As terrible as it is why is there no outcry for the 80+children that were killed in Chicago this year:cuss::banghead::fire:, one of the strictest gun control areas in the USA???

They said in the article that they are also talking with "hunters".... I suppose they think this will give the illusion of compromise to the general public. I would be interested to see who these hunters are and who they really represent.

I think they should have someone like Masaad Ayoob or R. Lee Ermey on their panel. At least then we'd have a real voice......
