A friend is trying to sell me a euroarms xx8 sheriff's model 36 cal. revolver for 50 bucks. I know it needs the wedge, a screw above the wedge and a screw in front of the trigger. I have taken the gun apart and cleaned it and reassembled it. I would like to know if its worth the 50bucks before i invest any money into it. It is in decent shape and its not black and brass. It looks like maybe nickel and brass i dont know. I have been Googling and still have not seen one on the net that looks like it. Can anyone help me with any info. on this gun?

Missing parts are always red flag. I suggest you check with Gun Parts Corporation and other part suppliers first. Dixie Gun Works is another source.

In it's current condition as a shooter the answer is no.
As a wallhanger probably.
As a gun buy back for $100.00 yes.

Pictures are worth a million words.

I second doing a search for the parts specific to that make of revolver and considering the price of replacing the parts and the postage and all.

I or some of the others around here might buy it just for the value of its parts, but as a first BP revolver I think you might want to save the money and buy a new gun to reduce the chances of a great deal of frustration.

Buying a piece of junk from a friend can be a problem for maintaining friendships unless you go into the deal recognizing that you may be buying soemthing that might be nothing but heartaches and cash down the crapper.

I personally enjoy tinkering.....at least when I get over the red rage of something that should have worked not working for no appearent reason.....and the satisfaction of making broke things work.

Any machine shop can make you a wedge and any gunsmith will have a box of screws i bet you can find one that will fit the trigger guard
Cap and ball pistols are some of the most fun you can have

If the frame is nickeled, put a magnet on it. A lot of them are brass with nickel plating. If non-magnetic don't bother with it as it is a brass frame. A machine shot would charge an arm & a leg to make a wedge. Just buy a new one and trim it to fit if needed. The screws ought to be replaceable with other makes. It sounds like a minor project gun. A lot of bargain brassers are shot loose and not serviceable.
