For you Mosin owners

If you are referig to the cocking knob/safety, you can see it was removed. Not as a mod to the gun to install the stock, but to remove the firing pin from the bolt. It's a public venue (kinda) and I'm sure a lot of paws will be handling that rifle. I think it was simply removed for the sake of safety.

I like the fact that it already has a Timney trigger safety interface. The 10 round detachable mag is sweet, too. My beat up old M-44 wants a new look.

"Wow! I'm impressed! It would be more impressive if they were able to figure out a way to add a workable scope mount that doesn't require drilling and tapping into the receiver."

Yes, big time.

What is depressing about it? It does not modify the rifle in any way, has better ergonomics than the military issue, and is completely interchangeable without any modification.

no one said you have to use the original wood stock for firewood in order to acquire one of these.

Personally, as much as I like my M-44, the stock sucks. If I get one of these Archangel stocks and it works well, that old wooden stock is going right into the fireplace, just as a single finger salute to all the purists.

I like my Mosin, but really... Hey, if you like it, buy it. If I want a good long range gun, my money will be spent elsewhere.

Does this modification make the gun an "assault weapon" under Feinstein and NY new rules?

It looks like they did something to change the safety, but I'm not sure how they modded it. Hopefully this would not be a permanent cut, or it's a deal breaker. Ideally one could simply leave the existing safety on.

Don't know 'bout the safety, but I understand that SHOT requires firing pins to be removed for the show ... so there goes the safety, too, on the Mosin.

Had an M44. Decided that the cool old rifle I got for $50 wasn't as cool as I thought and sold it, but if I still had it ... I'd probably get one of these stocks.

Meh.

I bought an ATI stock for my M38 at one point. Got the bolt turned down, got a tri-rail kit and scoped a long-relief, added a bipod, replacement lighter trigger...ended up taking it all out and putting it back to the original config with wood (except the turned-down bolt).

The replacement stocks just don't seem as solid and battle-worthy as the original Russian wood because, well, the original Russian wood has actually been through a battle. Also, it wasn't much lighter.

The only thing I ever plan to add to my Mosins is some kind of detachable recoil pad.

Limbsaver slip on pads rock.

I bought an ATI and had to return it, it was twisted. The second that came was twisted too, not as bad as the first though. I had to get it straight in a vice and than bed an aluminum channel in it to stabilize it.

Noticed the tang sticking up kinda high in one of those pictures. Shouldn't there be a channel for the bolt handle?

If it made a rifle more accurate I might consider it, being how Mosin's can be ok to horrible accuracy wise.

Seems like a good way to modernize your Mosin without getting out the hack saw, which is all for the good. If they could engineer a solid scope mount base onto the frame that would be even better.

Agreed. The other nice thing is now I can go to the store and pick up another Mosin and specifically seek out one with a great action/barrel, but ignore the wood. I can't tell you how many I looked at (for my first Mosin) that had a good stock but terrible steel, or vice versa.

I like it but would like a 5 round detachable for flushness and I'd have to get used to my old war-horses looking like Kel-tecs.

ApacheCoTodd,

I think in the video, they said it comes with a 5-round magazine, and you can buy 10-round additional magazines for $25. I would assume they would also sell the 5-rounders for the same or less, and they are probably pretty close to flush.
