I remember reading something a while back where an author of a bill like this couldn't explain what one of the "military characteristics" meant. Did Feinstein say something like this? if so, anyone have a link?

this is who my message went out to...look at all those ''D's'' you think any of them care what I say?

Your message for "Gun Owner: Call to Action" was sent on 01/23/2013 to the following recipients: President Barack Obama (D), Vice President Joseph Biden (D), Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Rep. Jared Huffman (D-CA), Gov. Jerry Brown (D-CA), Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA), Sen. Noreen Evans (D-CA), Asm. Wesley Chesbro (D-CA), Atty. General Kamala Harris (D-CA)

She is my senator. She won't even respond to my emails anymore. I guess I go right to the spam file. So much for representing the voting public.

Well Cantwell has you select what the topic is when emailing her. Instead of "gun violence" I chose "civil liberties".

Apparently the other response someone on THR got was from our rep, not a senator, so I will need a more neutral message to the other senator.

ETA: looked up her record...the other senator scores an F by the NRA. At least I was polite.

Look at the thread in Activism pointing out the Senators running for office in 2014 as pressure points to push on this.

Also look at the thread in Activism that points out the Senate Judiciary Committee members. Those in green need reinforced. Those in red should be given a brief and polite reminder of the backlash to the passing of the '94 AWB and the cost to their party. For those that aren't solid Antis persuasion making positive suggestions on what would address the root cause of violence without creating the impression that there's a reasonable threat that requires radical restrictions like bans on firearms, magazines or ammunition. Use any personal story that is true about you or someone you know that use our rifles for hunting or competition or that have used any firearm to protect a life. Don't make anything up.

BHP, I know you feel. I was thinking the same thing as I was sending mine. We're just going to ride out the tough times till we can vote these bozos out

Senator Feinstein is a staunch gun control advocate. Despite her stance, in the 1970s, she obtained a concealed firearms carry permit, and carried a handgun with her. A CCW permit was then rare in California, and was the only such permit in San Francisco. At the time, she was the target of a terrorist group that had shot out all the windows in her home. She no longer carries a gun What a hypocrite.Surely she must be near a hundred , maybe she will kick the bucket before long.

Both my senators are antis but they still heard from me. Have also been having family members send letters, even the ones that aren't into firearms (not antis, just aren't into shooting).

Bolster Senator Reid's resolve to not let this move an inch.

Bolster Senator Lahey's concerns about a floor vote to not let it out of Committee.

Bolster the pro-2A senators on the Judiciary Committee and strengthen their conviction that the draconian proposals are a waste of time and will be costly.

Bolster the undecided senator's on the Judiciary Committee and strengthen their inclination to not support draconian proposals that waste real effort and finding solutions to violent crime in this country and point out the politically costly consequences to their party should it leave Committee.

Today is the day!

If you've held off on contacting your Senators so far, you no longer have an excuse.

If you work in an office, make the calls on your lunch break.

I'm going to WITHHOLD contacting my Senators until the bill is submitted, and I can read the bill.

THEN I'm going to contact them.

While I think it's always a good idea to read a bill, Feinstein has already made her intentions clear via her website.

• Massive list of banned guns.
• More than one "evil feature" makes it an illegal "assault weapon."
• Ban on the sale or transfer of any magazines that hold >10 rounds.
• Guns already in private hands must be registered per the NFA, no different than if they were a belt-fed machine gun.

While the summary on her page isn't a copy of the actual bill, I doubt that her bill differs in any significant way.

So go pick up the phone.

I wish so many guys would stop assuming that this won't go anywhere. That might influence others to not take action. I'll be contacting my Pro 2nd Amendment officials today.

It might be worthwhile to mention that despite Feinstein saying this is for Sandy Hook, she has been targetting law-abiding gun owners for decades and is capitalizing on this event to further her long-standing agenda. While she is at the end of her political career and is going for broke trying to establish her legacy, other senators may not wish to undermine their politcal careers so quickly by supporting this bill, particularly those who are looking forward to a close fight in 2014.

You need to contact your representatives. Folks in New York are probably thinking..... what happened? You saw how quickly the debt stuff got handled after there was finally some support..... take a lesson. Congress normally moves very slowly, but on an emergency basis, it can move very quickly.

"All semiautomatic pistols that can accept a detachable magazine and have at least one military feature: threaded barrel; second pistol grip; barrel shroud; capacity to accept a detachable magazine at some location outside of the pistol grip; or semiautomatic version of an automatic firearm."

Looks like Glocks may be banned as they would all probably be considered semi-auto versions of the Glock 18.
