I was recently reading a post about Mossberg 500 and Remington 870 and who's better made and all that. Got me thinking. I own a Mossy 500 now, very little use, works great, but I don't get to shoot it much anymore. But, years ago I used to reload and shoot trap. Shot every Thursday night for about 5 years, used to go thru at least a 250-round case every week and would reload the hulls for the following week.
Over 5 years, that's over 60,000 rounds thru my old Remington 870 Wingmaster. I'd clean it every week, lube it, and it'd be ready for the next round of trap. Also used it for sporting clays, hunting, skeet, and turkey shoots. Anyway, didn't know how 60k rounds compared to what others are seeing. I bought my 870 used so have no idea how many rounds were thru it before I bought it, and in the years I owned it, never failed on me, never had to repair it (that I can remember). Again, I don't know if that's typical, or if there are things I should have replaced (springs for example) and I was simply neglecting the gun.
So, share your experience.
