SIG P220 in .45, P226 in 9mm and P232SAS in .357SIG - opinions?

I'm partial to the P226 9mm, but I wouldn't turn down the P220 .45, either.

I'm not a fan of .357 Sig, but, in the current panic, it's available while .45 auto and 9mm Luger are not.

I didn't find a listing for P232SAS in .357SIG on the Sig Arms site. Perhaps you have a typo here or it might be different model SIG. As far as I know, the P232 is only available in .380.

I am not sure the 232 comes in .357 Sig(?). I thought that the 232 only came in .380 (I am perfectly willing to stand corrected here).

I have never shot a 232 but I have heard nothing but good things. If CC is your purpose, then the 232 might be your gun. They are pretty compact and, from what I have read/heard shoot great.

The 226 and 220 are very similar in dimensions. I like the grips on the 220 better but I like the capacity of the 226.
Also, the 226 is "modular-ish" meaning that with my 226 (originally in .40) I can shoot .40, .357 Sig, 9mm, and .22 LR using conversion kits, slide swaps or conversion barrels. I like that.
If you like .45 the the 220 is really, really hard to beat.

Do not worry about the 220 and 226 being too large for CC. I am 5'8" and 125 lbs and I packed a 226 for a year under an untucked polo shirt before I could afford my 239 (my ideal cc gun, btw).
By the way, are the 220 and 226 milled guns (newer) or the old German models?

With the exception of the 232 it comes down to caliber and capacity. Which do you like better?

I own or have owned all three. The 232 is quite snappy to shoot. My wife didn't like it. She does like shooting my 220 though. The 226 had slightly fatter grips due too the double stack mag. I have owned the 220 for over 15yrs and if i had to choose, i think i would choose the 220, but i would be close to going with the 226. Get a railed version for flashlight use if you want it. They didn't have that option 15yrs ago, but the 226 i just scored had a rail!

I love my P220. It is the pistol I could not afford after I fell in love with it. 8 years later I found a steal of a deal on a used one and snatched it up. I had to confess to the wife I bought it without checking because it was that good a deal. She forgave me.

While 9mm is a good round, I think that the 357 is underrated.

Less flip than a 40, more penetration than the 9.

You won't have to fight for 9mm, as I just saw in my LGS last night when 9mm was gone, but 357 sig was marked down to 19.99 for 50...hollow points.

I've carried many guns over the years. My retirement gift to myself is a Sig P-220 Equinox Carry in 45 acp. I could not be happier with this pistol. I just love the 2-tone look of this pistol. It functions perfectly and all levers function smoothly. With the choice of just about any pistol available , this was my personal favorite.

If you don't already have a .45, then get the 220.

I must agree on the 220 Equinox Carry. My father and I got one for my brother and it is by far the gun I like to shoot the best. Sig triggers are smooth to start with but this Equinox... just perfect smooth on the DA and breaks perfectly on the SA.

But I have to say that I wish my 239 was a .357 Sig. And I can tell you that the 239 is a Sweet carry piece! That would be my choice if I were buying one of those three.
I also think that the .357 is underrated IMHO and it is what I keep my 226 loaded in.

if you're getting 1 gun and 1 gun only -- ammo abundance or reload components is clearly the #1 priority. 9mm wins.

226. 15,17,18,20, and + magazine capacity...a lot of fun range fire power and plenty of threat stoppage in a 124gr USA brand HP.

The 220 is great but I can't figure out why 8 rounds?? 8 rounds are reserved for 1911s.

No to the .357 Sig -- reason being is ammo supply. I tell everyone to buy a caliber that you're most likely to find an ammo abundance... So here in the US you have 9, 40, 45.

You can get the Sig in a 40...and a 9mm conversion and boom 2 calibers! Of course that was easier before the magazine hoarders came out to play.

Actually 7 rounds are for the 1911, and sig doesn't care either way.

The p220 .45 is a tough gun. And everybody needs a .45...

The P239 is more concealable than the others, but .357 SIG is more expensive to shoot (and more of a hassle to reload.) Between the P220 and P226, it'll be more expensive to shoot the .45, but for carry it comes down to whether you prefer fewer bigger rounds or more smaller rounds.

When faced with a similar dilemma recently, I chose the .45 over the 9mm, because I wanted the .45, dang it, and hang the expense.

Just a side note in favor of the P239. Add a ,40 S&W barrel, and you are in business with two capable calibers.

My P239 in .40 S&W is my EDC and my favorite SIG.

I have three P220s and a P239 SAS Gen2 and you can't go wrong with either. They are both accurate, reliable and ergonomic. If I had to choose one or the other I'd choose a P220 every time because .45 Auto is my favorite semi-auto pistol cartridge regardless of the application, and the P220 is one of the best pistols ever made. In the spirit of full disclosure, the P239 is my CC pistol (9mm Luger) and I choose to carry it over a P220 because it's lighter and more importantly because it's easier to conceal, but those are the only reasons. I'd rather shoot a P220 and would rather have a .45 Auto for CC but life is a compromise. I could carry one of my 1911s that combine concealability and the .45 Auto but I prefer Condition 2 carry over Condition 1.

I like the P220, something about its more slender grip does it for me. OTOH I also have another SIG, the P229 which has been both a .40 and 357. I shoot that just as well and the feel is also good. But given your three listed options, I say P220.

They're all great guns. My old man carries either a 220 Carry or a 239 in .357SIG.

Personally, force me to choose one and it'd probably be the 220.

$450 for just about any SIG in 90% condition or better would be a steal, IMO.
