Why Virtually All Gun Owners Oppose A Ban On "Assault Weapons" - And Why You Should Too

http://reasonedpolitics.blogspot.com/2013/01/why-virtually-all-gun-owners-oppose-ban.html

I have prepared this article with the non-gun owner in mind. It carefully explains, with source referenced information and graphics, why the assault weapons ban is bogus. It also reveals where the gun control movement really wants to go and how they can use the same dishonest tactics to ban many other weapons.

Please consider promoting this on social media and in any other way you can. Thank you!

I wish that your premise was true. But unfortunately there are gun owners ("Fudds") who are all too willing to throw the owners of "black rifles" under the bus. (Since your premise is false, your argument isn't convincing.)

Probably not virtualy all, but I would at least like to think most. Other than that distinction very good article.

Nice job on a well written article. Now to get people who are only educated by what the media says to read and more importantly understand.........

Even in Wyoming, I've heard "I'm a gun guy, but they should just put assault rifles in a crusher!" Hunters just don't believe anyone will come for their Model 70s or Model 12s. I've used the "long range sniper rifle" analogy and it doesn't have traction. With "gun guys."

Look it up. Anti-gun groups have ALREADY targeted hunting rifles as long range sniper weapons in the past.

They'll literally take anything they can get when it comes to banning firearms.

In 2004, Biden, Kerry, Feinstein and others nearly passed an amendment to a bill that would have banned the .30-30 round. Yeah, they want your hunting rifle too.

Alexander, as frustrating as I find the small number of gun owners who don't get it - the vast majority do. This is seen in the fact that the opposition to a new AWB and Magazine restrictions (38% and 42%) is just slightly above those polled who live in a gun owning household (52%). That is way too close to not be related. BTW in contrast 91% of those polled favored universal background checks - which means a lot of firearms owners are OK with that. In contrast, about 80% of those in gun owning households are opposed to an AWB or magazine restrictions. Figure in the fact that at least some households are divided on these matters between the gun owners and those who do not own the guns, and we have the vast majority (probably 90%+) of gun owners with us.

This poll has been mocked by the MSM, but Brady leaked shortly after it came out that they want the Dems to focus on background checks, rather than push for everything. That tells me that they believe those numbers.

While we have a battle ahead, this poll reveals that people are beginning to think with their heads rather than their emotions. There is a lot to be encouraged about in it.
