Rock Island Armory 1911 (Grip safety Issues)

Hello There- I recently Disassembled my 1911 and Removed the Grip Safety
because I really didn't like It, I want a low Profile aftermarket Grip safety to Replace It Instead.

Any Suggestions?
Also Feel free to Post links because I want one ASAP and Will Order!

My Rock Island Is the Compact Version.

Your best bet is to call RIA and ask them the question. Most all aftermarket GS require fitting. I believe the RIA Tactical uses a .250" radius on the frame, but my memory is a sketchy thing.

Call Arnel Bernardo, the most excellent gunsmith for RIA, a call at 775-537-1444... and ask him.

The earlier RIA Tacticals used a GI grip safety with no beavertail, so you might be able to fit that, but your the gun will in all likelihood, sit higher in your hand.

Another way to go is for you, or a smith if you're not mechanically inclined, to modify your existing grip safety. All that is required is to grind away the exterior bits (some of the beavertail, the memory pad) that you don't like, sand smooth, glass bead or polish, and re-blue or perhaps CeraKote. Advantage? No additional frame or function fitting required other than to assure the safety still functions properly after it's been "slimmed" down.
