Where do they get off presenting it as an NRA proposal? May I assume that "truth in labeling" laws do not apply to legislation? With universal background checks, requirements for reporting lost/stolen firearms, mucking around with CCW law...I know there's no way the NRA has their stamp of approval on this garbage.

Guess they figured the "Common Sense" buzzwords were getting stale, so they'd try a new low in misdirection? :fire:

Read Section 501. This is an attempt to make all states that allow CCW into "may issue" and change the issuing authority to the local CLEO, thereby taking the permitting process out of the state's purview (as many states, such as FL issue at the state level). This would mean that some counties may issue, some may not (if they have an anti-gun CLEO). You can kiss out-of-state resident permit issuance, as well as reciprocity goodbye if this passes.

And how many pro-2A people will just look at it superficially and say "ooh NRA endorses it, it must be a good thing!"

....then again, how many antis will look at it, assume that anything with the NRA on it must be EEEEVIL and threaten tarring and feathering if their Rep votes for it. All in all, a stupid name choice all around.
