Added a new dimension to my pistol practice after years of casual plinking and paper punching. Attended a Tactical I pistol class at West Coast Tactical - http://www.wct.4t.com - run out of the Sharpshooters Range in Torrance, CA. This class satisfies the basic training requirements for CCW license in Kali. Good mix of classroom and range time, excellent student/teacher ratio. Trainers well versed in all the current techniques and have trained and taught with some of the biggest "names" in pistolcraft. A no BS approach to what it takes to safely operate a handgun in a serious social situation. Drawing and firing, failure drills, reloads under pressure, situational awareness. Emphasis on safety and the etiquette of loaded weapons handling. Good coverage of the decision making process leading up to the use of deadly force.

Also attended a couple of the Diagnostic Workshops. These are 4 hour skill building sessions. The first one practiced shooting with movement leading to scootin' across the range while engaging silhouette targets. The next emphasized one handed shooting, both firing side and support side, leading up to the use of the back up gun when primary weapon fails. Failure drills were mixed in with "King of the Hill" shoots on steel to add a little stress to the practice.
Hats off to Fred for keeping it lively and realistic.

PS too bad they don't offer rifle.

It's indoors at the rough edge of suburbia. I think the chief instructor (Fred) has been involved with rifle training out in Nevada, he may be able to direct you.

4D4,

Thanks for the kind words.

Folks,

I'd like to offer a slot in the upcoming Low Light Tactical Handgun and Level One Tactical Shotgun to a High Road member in the So. Cal. area. The offer is open to any shooter who hasn't trained with us before.

For the low light class, prior handgun training is required. If you've trained with Gun Site, ITTS, Awerbuck, Gonzales, Cain, or equivalent, you'll be good to go.

Level one shotgun doesn't have prerequisites.

If any of you good folks are interested, drop us a line @ [email protected]

Take care and stay safe.
