I am the proud owner of a Ruger Single Ten. I bought it this afternoon. I took it home, did the poor man trigger job on it. That was super simple. Then ran to the range (despite the 20 degree weather, wind and snow flurries) and tried it out. WOW! I love it. After I played with the sights, I got it pretty much on. Those sights adjust backwards from what I thought they would, but oh well. I am really impressed with its balance, and performance, this thing is tight, and very accurate. I was kind of amazed, and surprised. I shot it off hand, and from a bag. I was putting shots really close or in the same hole. Being my first single action I know I will do better. As I put a few cylinders through it became easier to load, and empty. The bullets I used were the cheap Federal bulk pack. They went into the cylinder pretty easily, a few were hard to get out, but that got easier after a while. I am so pleased with this revolver, and am glad I got the Ten. I can’t wait to do more, probably Sunday. My only concern is shooting up all the 22 I saved before I can get more. This picture is of my last ten shot group, about 25 feet, offhand, fired fast as I was freezing by then.

Very nice shooting and a very nice gun! I bought a convertible single six for my son in 2009. Its one of the best guns I ever purchased. Love the balance and feel of it(4 5/8" bbl) and they sure are accurate.

The new Single Ten is pretty cool too, having that extra four shots between reloads would be nice.

Wow that's a nice looking revolver! Good buy, on my wanted list!

How do you like that fiber sight?

Thanks forthe compliments, I really like the Ten. Its a great shooter. The sights are very bright. I like them. They are not too big either. The rear sights are adjustable for windage and elevation.

I bought a Single-Ten last fall. Great gun. Nicely built, good trigger, accurate and lots of fun to shoot. I just wish I could get my hands on some more ammo so I could shoot it again. :(

lack of ammo

No kidding about the lack of ammo. I shot the ammo I bought for my kids to plink with. I think I saw some 22 shorts the other day, if they are still at Walmart I'll buy them for something to shoot. At times I wonder if the new plan is for the left to let us keep our guns but do away with ammo. Fortunately I can shoot 22 short, long and long rifle through the Ten.

I sold/traded away my Rugers - including all of my SA's - some years back - replacing them with fewer DA-capable S&W's. I have a 4" x10 617 and both a 3" & 5" x8 63, so I have .22LR covered. I also have a 4" 651 and 351PD, so .22 WMR is covered, too. All but the 651 sport HiViz fiber optic sights - I really like them - they light up like little searchlights even in dim light. Perfect for my 'mature' eyes. Then, I had to see the Ruger x10... first example of Ruger lust here in a while. Then this thread on it... more lust! Thanks a lot!!

I had started to buy extra bulk packs (550 & 325 boxes) of Federal .22LR ammo at Wally World after the first coronation... and didn't stop - I have some plinker .22's - and some CCI Stingers. I also bought primers & powder as I could for my cf reloading. As the ammo, powder, and primer supply has seemingly been gutted - and seems exceptionally slow to refill - one must ponder the reasons why. Still, my 'stash' seems large to me - but, then, my shooting - plinking - has drastically slowed, too. Sad times... but neat revolver!

I recently picked up a single six very similar to your and enjoy the heck out of it. I upgraded to the hi-viz sights, something yours probably came stock with. Makes me wish I'd gotten into the .22 game a long time ago. If you are interested in new grips, i highly recommend rio grande (www.riograndecustomgrips.com). They dropped right in and look/feel great.

The Ten comes with nice gunfighter grips on it. The wood is rosewood I think, nicely figured, and they fit my hand well. The gunfighter grips are slimmer than those on the single six. I was admittedly admiring grips made by Esmerelda last night, but not buying any time in the immediate future. The ones that came on it are actually very nice looking and feel good so at this point I don't see a need or have a desire to switch like I have on a few of my other guns.

I was quite impressed with the fit and finish of the Single Ten when they first came out. I didn't buy one, but it may well be my very first Ruger SA 22. I've only heard good things about them. I do have a few SA Colt 22's.

I'm mostly a DA 22 revolver shooter.

I had one for a while. Didn't like that it indexed between cylinder chambers [when loading and unloading]. Ended up finding a 1958 3 screw Single Six [in great shape]. No longer have the Single Ten.

orion I have a thing for the 3 screws too , I have one that left the factory in 56. I bought it converted but "unconverted it". That gun is on my NEVER sell list.

Good to hear that rchery. It is nearly absurd when someone sends an original one in and has it converted to the "safer" setup. A question. Before you unconverted it, . . . did the cylinder index correctly, or was it like the new setup where the ejection rod hits between the holes?

The wood is rosewood I think...
It's a laminate, not real rosewood.

The previous grips they used before Lett's closed were African rosewood, or bubinga. Still not the same as South American rosewood.

Well laminate or not, I like them. They look good and feel great. I like the sights too, very bright. Overall pretty darn happy with it, can't wait to shoot it again!

The indexing of both my SA Rugers, Single-6 and Single-10 is not as crisp as the indexing of my much cheaper Heritage Rough Rider. Everything else is super crisp.
