Proposed gun control bill in KY

Yeah, I saw this on the TV news. We need to gear up and start telling our side of the story to our representitives.

Today, state Representatives Mary Lou Marzian (D-34) and Jim Wayne (D-35) introduced legislation designed to strip away your individual Right to Keep and Bear Arms. While this measure is being touted as a public safety and crime control initiative, the proposals only criminalize and disarm law-abiding gun owners and threaten their inherent right to self-defense.

If this legislation is passed and enacted into law, the following changes will occur to firearm laws in Kentucky:


•You will be mandated to register with the state police your lawfully possessed handguns and certain semi-automatic rifles, and could be subject to unknown fees (taxes) to cover the cost of implementing a gun registration scheme.
•You will be forced to register any magazine that holds more than seven rounds.
•You will be subject to a background investigation and a fee (gun tax) for the private transfer of firearms between family and friends.
•You will be victimized by an unconstitutional mandatory storage requirement for all firearms in your home.

It has to get through a Republican controlled Senate and signed by a Republican Governor who sounds more wishy washy every day. Keep the prssure on your elected officials.

Do I even have to say that this is going absolutely no where.

Slim and none; and Slim's headed out of town.

As noted, the Kentucky legislature has a Republican senate. No real chance of being considered.

I also noticed that Rep. Marzian said she "hoped" she would get committee hearings on the bills. Not exactly confident in her outlook, if she's in the Democrat-controlled house.

It was no surprise to me that legislators in anti-gun states would try to push stuff like this, but this shows that leftists are so out of touch with reality that they expect to do this in Kentucky!!!??

It is not going to fly in Kentucky.

But, it does show you that even in a great state like Kentucky, there are politicians who don't understand the 2nd amendment.

We need to stay alert, both on the federal and on the state level.

By strange coincidence, I was reading the "Constitution of the Commonwealth of Kentucky" this morning, noting the very strong and deliberate language protecting Kentuckian's Right to keep and bear arms. No doubt I will be studying the Commonwealth's constitution, and begin preparing some rather spirited letters to these representatives...

I grew up in KY and have pro-2A family there still. The population won't go for increased "people" control.
