If I refused to do business with a company solely on the basis of that companies stance on guns, I'd have a lot less stuff and a lot more money.

Tennjed, you are correct sir.
They are not out to take our rights, just limit them or at least what we spend our money on. If your fine with that good on ya, it bugs me a bit that a company decides what I can spend my money on.

Not trying to argue with you fellas just trying to grasp the concept why we would support a co. That is not support us is all. or only willing to support us where they see fit (IE: keep a good public image).

Most companies decide what we can spend our money on to an extent. My Walmart sells AR15 but not handguns. Are they anti gun? The difference is we are passionate about the things paypal has limited. Other companies limit things you are not passionate about, so you do not notice. But I would be willing to bet your do business with companies that put limits on things every day. Paypal isn't passionate one way or the other. Paypal has attorneys telling them to do this. How do you get companies to change policy? $$$.

The fact of the matter is there are 3 types of people (and companies) when it comes to guns.

1) pro gun (passionate)
2) anti gun (passionate)
3) middle road/undicided. (not passionate)

I love pro gun. I hate anti gun.

I want to educated the non passionate middle ground people. They have 2 choices on whose side they can be on if they decide to jump off the fence. Do you want them on our side or the other? Sometimes we think everyone out there is as passionate about firearms as us, so if they are not 100% pro gun they must be 100% anti gun. The fact of the matter is there are lots of people that are indifferent and not passionate. Lets educate them. Paypal is one of the largest corporations in the country. The fact that they allow some gun transactions is actually a huge plus for us, it helps all gun owners.

I go out of my way to support pro gun.
I will avoid anti gun.
I will treat middle road, with indifference. I will not go out of my way to use paypay, but I will not avoid them. THEY ARE NOT ANTI GUN.

Dont have one. Wont ever do that again.

I would rather commit ritualistic suicide with a dull steak knife, than to offer that company profits totaling a single dime that I've used for plinking practice over the last 3 days.

Never, ever ever EVER again.

Their business practices were devious, corrupt, and foul LONG before guns got even factored into the mix as far as I'm concerned.

Massive corporate bankruptcy ? Stockholder revolt ? Angry liquidation ? Regulatory shredding ? Die in a fire ?

All the same to me. Coming up on the 4th annicersary of being pay-pal free, and I've loved every single VISAtastic day of it.

Tennjed, I think I understand what you are saying but I'm simply not happy with them letting me exercise %40 of my rights with %100 of my money is all. I won't pay someone to let me buy what they decide I can buy.

I understand that they have legal counsil telling them what to do, but with that I would be less apt to need a lawyer if I went unarmed all the time also. Like I said I "think" I understand what your saying but if I missed it I'm sorry. I'm willing to listen, it's that darn understand thing that gets me:)

I won't pay someone to let me buy what they decide I can buy.

Every retailer decides what you can buy by not selling every category of things you might want (except for some places like WalMart that you can equip in entire trip to the woods while you get your oil changed and new tires put on).
You can't purchase some things with PayPal, others you can. You can't sell some things on Ebay, others you can.

I agree that no one should support a business that has policies against your beliefs or that infringes on your rights, but you should be completely sure you know what is or isn't being done and why or why not before calling others out on it.

HSO,

The only calling out that I did was tell a member that telling a lie was wrong, it is my firm belief that this it true. Making a sale using a system that prohibits the sale of the items and calling it for example-- a kinetic metal and wood sculpture and selling a rifle. <---my example.

I don't view paypal a retailer, just trying to figure why so many diehard gun folks let a company hold there $ and control what they spend it on. I don't think this action needs a defense, as I said I am just wondering why it's acceptable to paypal patrons?

I'm not trying to damn people for using paypal, just wanting to know how many firearms owners supported the company and the reasons behind it. If you could be more clear on the "calling out" portion of your post it might help clear things up for me.

Silly lazy Americans:fire:

The only calling out that I did was ...

Really?

Also, what is the actual basis for the oft repeated claim that they are actually Anti? They won't allow PP to be used for firearms transactions, but they do for magazines, accessories, ammunition and everything except firearms. If they were truly Anti would they let you pay for mags and ammo and all the goodies to mod your AK or AR?

Ya got me on the lazy comment;)

But please do your research as it is against paypal policy to purchase hi cap mags and ammunition. I understand folks do it but it isnt the right thing to do.

Not trying for a battle of will or wits just stating we all make mistakes.

Have used them for eBay & for stuff I sold on GB (but not directly linked, just sent buyers invoices). The fees got to me and also a dispute over the return of a set of binocs to Optics Planet that is now in its 3rd month, even though OP has confirmed receipt of returned merchandise…

Will be closing my acct once the dispute is settled.

i know they are anti-gun. that is part of why i use it. to buy gun related things. as long as it is processed as misc goods, or something similar, they run it through no problem. but i know i have just stabbed them in the sides, though my "shank" is only a pin. anything i can do to stick it to them makes me feel good.

I also have a PayPal account for online sales. I also responded to this post on my Chinese made IPad sitting in my clothes made in India watching my Japenese TV with my German made car parked in the garage filled with gas made from oil pumped from Saudi Arabia all purchased from places that ban carrying and carry products made from countries with gross gun control. All paid for by U.S. dollars earned that I paid taxes to a goverment to that's taking away our 2nd Amendment rights working with people where over half of them supported the current adminstration. People will have their views, opinions and beliefs and are entitled to them. If I avoided everyone that disagreed with me, I be homeless cold and starving.

About eight years ago, they allowed an identity thief to open an account in my name and use it to siphon money from one of my credit cards. They never bothered to verify the identity of the person opening the account.

I will never do business with them.

PPT, thanks for the best post in this thread.

Winner....

Another poll... (yawn). Polls are one of my pet peeves. Americans seem to thrive on opinion polls as entertainment. Thus the media makes money on them, regardless of whether they have any statistical significance or societal merit.

I have eBay, and therefore pretty much have to have PayPal if I want to do anything. I have discovered from reading this poll however that maybe I shouldn't have PayPal, because they are anti-gun. I'm all for boycotting those who hate freedom, but I am not aware of what PayPal has done to let us know they hate freedom. Can someone enlighten me?

Not trying to hijack your thread OP, but I assume this is basically the purpose of the poll anyhow, so hopefully I am not.

I use Paypal because I like and use eBay.

If I have to boycott everything and everybody who doesn't like or support gun rights I'm going to live a very boring, sequestered life. I'm not going to fight every battle, only some.

^^ This ^^

People who cry Pay Pal is anti-gun don't know the whole story. As has been pointed out, they allow you to use it to buy most gun-related items. They "ban" actual gun purchases, hi-cap mags and ammo. Everything else is ok with them. A few years back they did have a hard line on guns and gun-related stuff but they relaxed their rules in the last year or so.

So, I'll call hippocrite to anyone who slams anyone for using Pay Pal when they get in their imported car, buy their Arab country gas on their way to BOA to pay for their mortgage with BOA or any number of anti-gun lenders and run their Intuit software at work. Face it guys, companies have their stances for and against many things, including guns.

Choosing to use some anti-gun businesses and not others, because it's hard to remortgage or switch banks, smacks of the definition of hippocrite especially when you consider Pay Pal is not anti-gun. Do they tell you what you can or can't buy? Does every Walmart carry every gun sold? Does your supermarket sell ammo? That's a poor excuse to slam someone who uses Pay Pal, or any other business, because it's works for them.

I have one because it is the only way to pay a custom bullet mould maker whom I really like. He live is Slovenia or something like that.

Here's the specifics from the PayPal Help FAQs. https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/helpcenter/article/?solutionId=38957&m=SRE
What is PayPal’s policy on transactions that involve firearms?

We don’t allow PayPal members to buy or sell any kind of firearm, whether it’s in working order or not. The same goes for certain firearm parts and ammunition.

For example, using PayPal, you can’t buy or sell:

Any firearm, including rifles, shotguns, and handguns, whether they’re for sport and recreation, collectibles, or curio or relic firearms.
Firearm parts, including but not limited to receivers and frames, silencers, and kits designed to modify guns so that they fire automatically. High capacity magazines
, multi-burst trigger activators, and camouflaging firearm containers are other items in this category.
Ammunition, including propellants like gunpowder or blank ammunition; ammunition or cartridge cases; and primers, bullets, or propellant powder designed for any firearm.

Stun gun sales are allowed for U.S. residents, but only if the transaction is permitted by law in both the buyer's and seller's jurisdictions. (PayPal account holders outside the U.S. can’t buy or sell stun guns.) Before they complete a sale, U.S. sellers must make sure that the transaction is legal in both locations.

Related items that you can buy and sell using PayPal include paintball guns, blank guns, and air-soft guns, as long as such transactions are legal in the applicable jurisdiction. All of these items must display the markings required by law, must not be convertible to shoot a lethal projectile, and can’t include blank ammunition.
