If you could go back in time...

I'd have to drop in on Japan in the late 1500's and try to scare up a Samurai sword made by one of the masters. Those things are the best swords ever made.

I'd wander about Afghanistan in the 80's and snag myself an AKSU. I know, its a simple unspecial rifle...which is why I'd grab an armload've SVDS on my way out!

Leaving aside legal issues .... I'd have brought home at end of WWII .... a nice MG-42!

Either a SA Colt from the 1880's or a 1921 Thompson from then.

I would go back to the year 1776 and tell the guys that we need the words "This amendment ensures that any law abiding, private citizen shall be able to own, use and maintain any firearm without restriction, licensure or threat of any kind" added to the second ammendment.

I would go back to the time when the Federalist and Anti-Federalist papers, take a job at the publisher of both papers and make sure that the 2nd Amendment text became "The spirit of resistance to government, so valuable on certain occasions, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed".

The first two clauses are taken from a TJ quote.

If we're limited to firearms, though, and cost was no factor, I'd go for a Kimber Stainless Gold Match II or maybe one of the new Para single stack, single action 1911s with the spring-loaded extractor. I've always been quite partial to the 1911, what can I say? it would be nice to have a nice M1-A1 or even a sturdy AK-47. Maybe an AR-10 or Armalite AR-30. But if I could only pick one, I'd go with one of the 1911's mentioned above.

Go to 1865. Score a Henry, blow away John Wilkes Booth. Many here don't like Lincoln, but there's a reason: he was planning a much less harsh Reconstruction and his second-term USSC picks would have ROCKED compared to the lunatics we ended up with.

I'd get the Spencer carbine, it got the job done and it could take heavy abuse.

If I could go back in time, I wouldn't bring back a gun... I'd leave a few. In the hands of passengers of 4 planes on 9/11/2001. It would have saved all those lives, and it would have been guns in the hands of ordinary citizens that did it.

Although, maybe it would be more satisfying to me to go down the list of 19 Middle-Eastern men myself, just to make sure it was done correctly.
